1. Disconnect air inlet temperature sending unit (1).2. Disconnect oil lines (2) and (3) at the air shutoff hydraulic cylinder. 3. Loosen clamp (4) and move the clamp away from the pipe connection. 4. Remove the bolts that hold air shutoff (5) to the air inlet manifold and remove the pipe and air shutoff (5).
Put a cover over the air inlet manifold opening so foreign material will not get into the air inlet manifold.
5. Put a mark for alignment on pipe (6) and air shutoff (5).6. Remove pipe (6) from air shutoff (5).Install Air Shutoff Group
1. Put a light coat of engine oil on the O-ring seals on pipe (1).
Be sure to remove the cover over the air inlet manifold opening before installation of the air shutoff.
2. Make an alignment of the marks on pipe (1) and shutoff (2) and install pipe (1) in shutoff (2).3. Put air shutoff (2) and pipe on inlet manifold. Use a new gasket. 4. Put clamp (3) in position. Put 5P3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the threads of the clamp. Tighten the clamp nut to a torque of 10 2 lb.ft. (14 3 N m). 5. Connect hydraulic lines (5) and (6) to air shutoff (2).6. Connect air inlet temperature sending unit (4).Disassemble Air Shutoff Group
start by:a) remove air shutoff 1. Remove hydraulic cylinder (1).
Plate assembly (2) is connected to a shaft and spring which turns plate assembly (2) to the closed position. To prevent personal injury and component damage, use the knob to hold plate assembly (2) open while the bolts are removed.
2. Remove plate assembly (2). 3. Remove knob (3). 4. Remove cover (4). 5. Remove shaft (5). 6. Make reference marks on shaft (5), spring (6) and latch (8) for correct assembly.7. Remove dowel (7) and remove latch (8) and spring (6). 8. Use tool (A) to remove the seal from cover (4).Assemble Air Shutoff Group
1. Use tool (A) to install the seal in cover (1). Install the seal with the spring loaded lip toward the inside of the air shutoff. 2. Install washer and spring (3) and latch (5) on shaft (2). Be sure latch (5) and spring (3) are in correct alignment with shaft (2). Install dowel (4) to hold latch in place. 3. Put shaft (2) in housing assembly (6). Be sure the end of spring (3) engages with the hole in housing assembly (6). When correctly assembled, clockwise rotation of shaft (2) will be against spring force. 4. Put a light coat of engine oil on the seal in cover (1) and install cover (1) on housing assembly (6). 5. Put knob (7) on shaft (2). 6. Turn knob (7) in a clockwise direction against the spring and install plate assembly (8). Tighten the three bolts and bend the sheet metal lock against the bolts. 7. Tighten the nut that holds cylinder (9) to the flange to a torque of 33 5 lb.ft. (45 7 N m).8. Use a new O-ring seal and install hydraulic cylinder (9). Put the cylinder in position so that the plunger is free and tighten the bolts, first one then the other, in small amounts to prevent distortion of the flange.end by:a) install air shutoff
