Diagnostic Trouble Codes for the Ether Starting Aid Circuit
J1939 Code Description Notes
626-5 Engine Start Enable Device 1 : Current Below Normal The Electronic Control Module (ECM) detects the following conditions:
A low current condition in the output from the ECM to the solenoid for ether injection
The ECM has been powered for at least 2 seconds.
If equipped, the warning lamp will come on. The ECM will log the diagnostic code.
626-6 Engine Start Enable Device 1 : Current Above Normal The Electronic Control Module (ECM) detects the following conditions:
A high current condition in the output from the ECM to the solenoid for ether injection
The ECM has been powered for at least 2 seconds.
If equipped, the warning lamp will come on. The ECM will log the diagnostic code. When the ambient temperature is between 10 °C (50 °F) and −25 °C (−13 °F), glow plugs are used as a starting aid. When the ambient temperature is below −25 °C (−13 °F), the ether injection system is used as a starting aid.
