Information:

Problem
There have been certain instances of questionable engine idling after installing the new engine software because the wheel loaders will automatically reduce the low idle to 600 rpm. A full description of each mode is available in Caterpillar Product Information Salesgram, TEKQ0313-02, "Cat Midsize Wheel Loaders Engine Idle Management System".Solution
The implement software must be installed prior to the installation of the engine software. If the software is not installed properly a fault code of 82-596-14 will occur. The installation of the engine software will activate the Engine Idle Management System (EIMS). The installation will also correct an engine mapping software issue. The Engine Idle Management System comes with four idle control settings: hibernate mode, work mode, low voltage mode and warm-up mode. Each mode is configurable through Electronic Technician 2005B Version 2.0 or later. The transmission software enables Control Throttle Shifting when the operator commands a directional shift from third speed reverse to second speed forward and from third speed forward to second speed reverse.Rework Procedure
Complete the following steps when you update 980H machines that require all three of the following flash files. The software must be installed in the order that is described below.
