Information:

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: After the air supply connection has been made to the centrifugal oil filter regulator, verify that the regulator pressure is set to 207 kPa (30 psi). Maximum pressure setting for the regulator is 258.5 kPa (37.5 psi). Maximum air pressure supply to the regulator is 1723.6 kPa (250 psi)Centrifugal Oil Filter

Shut off air supply and open drain cock.
Loosen clamp (14) and nut (5). Remove cover (8) from filter body (16).
Remove O-ring seal (13) from the base.
Remove the rotor assembly from spindle (10). Lift the rotor assembly carefully so the bearings are not damaged.
Use tool (A) to hold the rotor assembly and remove nut (6).
Remove rotor body (12) and separation cone from rotor base (15). Clean stand tube.
Remove cover (7) from rotor body. Remove paper liner (9) from the rotor body. Properly dispose of the paper liner. Use a plastic scraper to clean out all remaining sludge.
Clean the nozzles in rotor base (15). Do not enlarge the nozzles.
Inspect bearings (4) and (17) for excessive wear.
Inspect spindle (10) for excessive wear.
If there is minimal wear to bearing (4), bearing (17), and spindle (10) go to step 14. If there is considerable wear to bearing (4), bearing (17), and spindle (10) go to step 12.
Use tool (C) to measure the clearances between the bearing (4) and bearing (17) and spindle (10). The maximum clearance between bearing (4) and spindle (10) is 0.25 mm (0.010 inch). The maximum clearance between bearing (17) and spindle (10) is 0.20 mm (0.008 inch). If the rotor bearings and the spindle are not within specifications, replace the parts.Note: The spindle and the filter body are replaced as a complete assembly. The rotor assembly is replaced as a complete assembly. Before you assemble the centrifugal oil filter, thoroughly clean all of the parts and inspect all of the parts. Replace parts that are damaged or worn.
Install a new paper liner (9) in rotor body and cover (8). Place O-ring seal on rotor base and rotor cover. Position rotor body (12) on rotor base (15).
Ensure that all of the rotor components are thoroughly clean before assembling the rotor. Failure to do so can cause an out of balance condition that can cause rapid wear to the bearings and the spindle.
Install rotor body (12) and separation cone on rotor base (15) carefully so the bearings are not damage.
Use tool (A) to hold the rotor assembly and install nut (6). Tighten nut to 40 N m (29.5 lb ft)
Install O-ring seal (13) on filter body (16).
Install cover (8) and clamp (14) on filter base (16). Tighten clamp (14) and nut (5).
Close drain cock and turn air supply on.
Check the centrifugal oil filter for leaks. Feel the centrifugal oil filter for excessive vibration. Regulator Filter
Disconnect or shut off air supply and exhaust the primary and secondary pressures before servicing the regulator. Turning adjustment knob counterclockwise does not vent downstream pressure on non-relieving regulators. Downstream pressure must be vented before servicing the regulator.
Note: After servicing regulator, turn on air supply and adjust regulator to the desired pressure. Check the regulator for leaks. If leakage occurs, do not operate. Perform repairs and retest.

Unscrew and remove bowl (1).
Unscrew the element retainer (2).
Remove element (3).
Clean internal parts and bowl before reassembling.
Install new element.
Install element retainer. Finger-tighten firmly.
Replace bowl seal (4). Lightly lubricate new seal to assist with retaining the seal in position. Note: Use only mineral-based lubricants for lubricating seals.
Install bowl into body and tighten. Hand-tighten plus one quarter turn.
