Before beginning the rework, take a picture of the area to be worked on and again when the work is complete to assure the boat has been left in the same condition after the repair was completed.
1. Remove the cylinder head following the instructions in the Service Manual. When possible place blocks of wood on top of the oil cooler to support the exhaust manifold and aftercooler assembly. Remove the bolts from the manifold so that the manifold rests on the blocks of wood. Or you can fabricate some brackets to hold the manifold in place. If the boat is not equipped with hatches or if there is adequate overhead clearance, remove the aftercooler housings core from the exhaust manifold. Remove the exhaust manifold. Typically the aftercooler needs to be removed only on the starboard engine. If the boat is equipped with hatches, then have the boat yard remove the furniture and carpeting to gain access to the hatches. On single screw boats remove the cylinder head with the aftercooler and exhaust manifold in place.
2. Remove the 1095337 Exhaust Valves from the cylinder head.3. Remove the 1230486 Intake Valves from the cylinder head.4. Visually inspect the valve seats to determine if grinding the seats is necessary. GRINDING NOT REQUIRED:

PROCEDURE FOR TIGHTENING HEAD BOLTS This procedure is the same as found in the Service Manual except that the recommended thread lubricate has changed to the 6V4876 Molycoat Paste from the former 4C5593 Anti-sieze.
10. Lubricate the bolt thread, under the side of the bolt head and the washer with 6V4876 Molycoat past. MUST BE done each time the head bolt is installed.11.
