Table 1
Diagnostic Code Code Description Response
99-0 Engine Oil Filter Differential Pressure : High - most severe (3) Diagnose the issue using the Troubleshooting manual.
1684-12 Fuel Injection Pump : Failure Replace the high-pressure fuel pump. The codes listed in Table 2 are related to the operation of the high-pressure fuel pump and may indicate a problem with the system. If any of the following codes become active, use the "Response" column for a resolution.
Table 2
Diagnostic Code Code Description Response
99-15 Engine Oil Filter Differential Pressure : High - least severe (1) Change oil filters immediately.
99-16 Engine Oil Filter Differential Pressure : High - moderate severity (2)
100-17 Engine Oil Pressure : Low - least severe (1) Diagnose the issue using the Troubleshooting manual.

(1) Side access plugs
With the engine off, remove side access plugs (1) from the high-pressure fuel pump. Retain the plugs for reinstallation.Note: A small amount of oil may come out of the side access ports. Ensure that the o-ring seal does not stick to the pump housing and are on the plugs during removal.
Use a flashlight to visually inspect the surface of the first camshaft lobe closest to the front of the engine. Examine the surface of the lobe surface for texture and appearance. Use the following sections below to determine the state of the high-pressure fuel pump: Camshaft Condition : Acceptable, Camshaft Condition : Monitor, and Camshaft Condition : Failure of the High-Pressure Fuel Pump.
If any of the lobe surfaces are in question, use tool group (T1) to inspect the lobe. Take pictures with the bore scope of any camshaft lobe in question. Enter a Dealer Solution Network (DSN) ticket attach the photos to the ticket.Note: Do not insert the scope far enough to contact the camshaft of the pump as this can cause damage.
Repeat the inspection for the remaining 3 camshaft lobes.
If all 4 camshaft lobes are acceptable, turn the engine over 120 degrees then reinspect the lobes again. Repeat this process until a
