Information:
1. Loosen bolts (1) and (2) on the alternator brackets.2. Move the alternator towards the engine, and remove V-belts (3) from the alternator drive pulley.
Make sure that support assembly (5) and the fan drive do not fall in Step 3. They could cause damage to the radiator core.
3. Attach a lifting sling and a hoist to the fan drive. Remove two bolts (4) and washers from support assembly (5). 4. Move the fan drive and support assembly (5) in order to allow access to six bolts (6) and washers. Remove six bolts and washers (6) that hold fan (7) to the fan drive.5. Remove fan (7) from the fan drive. The weight of fan (7) is 25 Kg (55 lb). 6. Remove four bolts (8) and washers from fan drive (9) and support assembly (5). Remove fan drive (9) from support assembly (5). The weight of fan drive (9) is 30 Kg (65 lb). If fan drive and support assembly are removed together the weight is 56 Kg (123 lb).Install Fan & Fan Drive
Check the condition of the fan assembly for damage or broken fan blades. Check the condition of the hub area of the fan assembly. If the part is damaged, use a new part for replacement. 1. Attach a lifting sling and a hoist to fan drive (9). Position fan drive (9) to support assembly (5). The weight of fan drive (9) is 30 Kg (65 lb).2. Install four bolts (8) and washers to fan drive (9) and support assembly (5). 3. Position fan (7) to fan drive (9) with the side marked "front" away from the radiator core. The weight of fan (7) is 25 Kg (55 lb).4. Install six bolts (6) and washers in order to secure fan (7) to fan drive (9). 5. Position support assembly (5) to its original location. Install two bolts (4) and washers in order to secure support assembly (5) to its mounting. Remove the lifting strap. 6. During the installation of the V-belts, check the condition of all the V-belts. If any of the V-belts are damaged, use new parts for replacement.7. Install V-belts (3) on the alternator drive pulley.8. Tighten bolts (1) and (2) on the alternator brackets.9. Adjust the V-belt tension. Refer to the "Operation & Maintenance Manual" for the proper procedure of adjusting (new or used) V-belt tension.10. Tighten the fan V-belts until they deflect 12 mm (1.2 in) for new V-belts, or 5/8 16 mm ( in) for old V-belts under the application of a 13 Kg (25 lb) force half way between the pulleys.11. A Burroughs Gauge No. BT-33-72-4-15 can also be used to make the fan V-belt adjustment. Make an adjustment to the V-belt farthest from the engine. The gauge reading for a new V-belt must be 120 5 and for a V-belt with a minimum of 30 minutes of operation time 90 10.End By:a. install hoodDisassemble & Assemble Fan Drive
Start By:a. remove fan drive 1. Remove bolts (7), and remove bracket assembly (9) from bracket (8).2. Remove bolts (5). Remove adapter (1) from hub (3). Remove seal (2) from adapter (1).3. Remove bolts (15) and washer (14). Remove hub (3) and pulley (4) from the shaft on bracket assembly (9). Remove pulley (4) from hub (3).4. Remove bearing (13) and spacer (6) from the hub. Remove spacer (12), bearing (11), and seal (10) from the shaft on bracket assembly (9). The following steps are for the installation of the fan drive.5. Clean and inspect all parts. Make a replacement of all parts that are worn or damaged.6. Lubricate sealing lip of seal (10) lightly with the lubricant being sealed. Install seal (10) in hub (3) with Tooling (A). Install the lip of the seal toward the outside of the hub.7. Install bearing (11) in the hub. Install spacer (12) and spacer (6) in the hub. Fill the hub with 5P-0960 Multi-Purpose Grease. Install bearing (13) in the hub.8. Install pulley (4) on hub (3), and install the hub on the shaft on bracket assembly (9). Install washer (14) and bolts (15).9. Install seal (2) in adapter (1).
