(Revised September 1988) U-49 TT-2 1289 PS6001 This Service Letter replaces the March 30, 1987 Service Letter. Changes were made to the Termination Date and Affected Product, as described in the January 6, 1988 Service Letter Extension. This Program is to be administered after the initial customer specified parameters have been programmed by either the truck OEM or the OEM dealer. This Program applies to all of the programmable customer specified parameters, except for a rating change that would require changing engine components. A rating change within the acceptable limits of the PEEC personality module is allowable. When reporting the repair, use "PS6001" as Part Number and "7755" as Group Number. Termination Date

Problem
In some situations, the initial programming of the PEEC engine rpm or vehicle speed limiting functions may not provide the intended operation, and the customer may desire that the parameters be reset.

Model Identification Number *3406B 8TC1 - Up *All 3406B PEEC Truck Engines delivered prior to June 30, 1988.
Parts Needed

Action Required
Determine the customer's new parameters, and obtain the customer's passwords. Use the Electronic Control Analyzer Programmer (ECAP) or the Digital Diagnostic Tool (DDT) to change the appropriate parameters. Stamp the letter "R" on the Engine Information Plate in the "Date Delivered" block, or if the engine rating is changed, install a Repower Information Plate. Submit a SIMS report for the reset. WARRANTY ALLOWANCES This Program may be administered one-time-only per engine. A flat rate of $34.06 U.S. will be paid for resetting the customer specified parameters. A consolidated claim for up to ten engines may be submitted. Fill out the heading information for one serial number with miles at the time of reset. In the Comment section of the claim, list all other engines with miles at the time of reset. Make sure a SIMS report for each serial number on the claim is submitted. In the "Other Expense" section of the claim, list the total amount for all engines on the claim.
