Problem
The 4W9294 Rocker Arm Button may break and fall off the fuel injector rocker arm. New buttons can be installed that will operate with injector tappets that are not flat. It is no longer necessary to change injectors when circular wear patterns show up on the rocker arm buttons.

Action Required
If a button failure occurs, install the parts listed for use on failed cylinders only. Inspect the buttons on the other cylinders for a circular wear pattern. If any of the other buttons have a circular wear pattern resembling tree growth rings, replace the buttons, inserts and O-ring Seals for those cylinders showing wear. The insert is a press fit in the rocker arm. A press will be required to install the new inserts in the rocker arms.

Parts Disposition
All parts removed (with the exception of cores used for Caterpillar Remanufactured parts) should be rendered useless and scrapped immediately upon completion of the repair.
