1. Remove cotter pin and pin (1) that fasten cable assembly (2) to lever. Move cable assembly from the governor.2. Remove levers (3) and (4) and plate (5). 3. Remove cover (6) and gasket from cover assembly (8).4. Remove plate assembly (7) from cover assembly. 5. Remove bolt (9), cover assembly (8) and gasket from governor. There is a strainer assembly in the bottom of the cover assembly. Use care that it does not become lost during cover assembly removal. 6. Remove bolt (10), collar (11) and the spring from under the collar.7. Remove bolts (12) that hold governor housing (13) in place. Remove governor housing (13) and gasket from the governor plate. 8. Remove seat (14), spring washer, flatwasher, spring washer and spring (15). 9. Remove plug (16) and install tool (A) in the fuel injection pump housing. The square end (X) must be down when the racks are in the center (zero) position. 10. Disconnect hose assemblies (19) and remove four bolts (18), governor plate and gasket (17) from housing. 11. Put governor plate (17) on blocks to protect drive assembly (20) and lever assembly (21).Install Governor
The drive assembly must be removed from the governor plate before the governor plate is installed for correct alignment. The drive assembly can be damaged if it is installed with the governor plate and is not in alignment with the drive pinion assembly.
1. Remove retaining ring (1) with tool (B). Remove ring (2), spring (3), drive assembly (4) and ring (5) from governor plate. The racks must be held against timing pin (A) and the governor lever engaged in the groove (slot) (X). 2. Install gasket and governor plate (6) on the fuel pump housing. Make sure the dowels (7) in governor plate (6) are in alignment with the holes in the injection pump housing. 3. Install ring in gear. Install drive assembly (10). With the groove (slot) in the bottom end of the drive in alignment with the notch in the drive pinion.4. Install spring (9), ring (10) and retaining ring (8) with tooling (B). 5. Connect two hose assemblies (13) to governor plate. Install spring (16), spring washer (15), flatwasher (14), spring washer (12) and seat (11). 6. Install gasket and governor housing (18) on governor plate.7. Check the fuel rack setting. See Check Fuel Rack Travel.8. Install spring on bolt. Install collar (17) and retaining bolt. 9. Be sure strainer assembly (20) is in cover assembly (19). Strainer assembly (20) is installed with the mesh (screen) toward the governor housing.10. Install gasket (21) and cover assembly (19) on the governor housing. 11. Install gasket and cover (24).12. Install gasket (25) and plate (23). Dowel (22) must engage with the notch in collar (17). 13. Install plate (29) and levers (27) and (28) on the governor housing. Install cable assembly (26) in position on lever (27).14. After the fuel ratio control and fuel shutoff solenoid are installed, check the governor adjustment. See Governor Adjustment in Testing And Adjusting.END BY:a) install fuel shutoff solenoidDisassemble Governor
START BY:a) remove governor 1. Remove strainer (2) from governor cover (1). 2. Bend the locks back and remove four bolts (6). Remove levers (4) and (5).3.
