Information:

Some system configuration parameters are configurable by the customer in order to suit the customer particular application. The configuration file contains all of the adjustable settings for the monitoring system. The engine is shipped from the factory with default values for these parameters. In most cases, the parameters will not need to be changed. The system configuration parameters must be reprogrammed if an ECM is replaced and/or the engine rating is reprogrammed. System configuration parameters will not need to be reprogrammed if the flash file is replaced. Proper values for these parameters are available on Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET). Certain configuration parameters are also stamped on the engine information plate. If the default settings for the parameters have been modified, there will be no record at the factory of the changes. These settings can be downloaded into a laptop computer and saved to a file. The customer can then use the file in order to ease the future replacement of the ECM.No password is required for programming a new ECM during the first 100 hours of service life. This 100 hour "free configuration" feature enables the customer to tailor some of the programmable setpoints to the requirements of the installation.Note: If the parameters that are protected with the factory passwords are changed, the Caterpillar warranty may be voided. If a programmable parameter has not been programmed, the ECM will generate a 630-2 diagnostic code. The unprogrammed parameters will be set to default. Certain aspects of the engine performance and engine monitoring may be affected. Program the missing parameter.Parameter Descriptions
Rating Number
The rating number corresponds to the set of performance maps that has been selected for this application. The map is resident in the flash file for the engine.Rated Power
This parameter specifies the rated power of the engine.Rated Peak Torque
This parameter specifies the rated peak torque of the engine.Top Engine Speed Range
This parameter specifies the optimum top speed range of the engine.Equipment ID
This parameter allows the customer to enter a description into the ECM in order to identify the engine application. A maximum of 17 characters can be entered in the field.Engine Serial Number
The engine serial number must be programmed to match the engine serial number that is stamped on the engine information plate. The engine serial number is not preprogrammed into a replacement ECM.ECM Serial Number
The serial number of the ECM that is stored in the ECM memorySoftware Group Part Number
The part number of the flash file that is currently installed in the ECMSoftware Group Release Date
The release date of the flash file that is currently installed in the ECMSoftware Group Description
The description of the application for the flash file that is currently installed in the ECMFLS
This parameter represents the fuel system adjustment that was made at the factory in order to fine-tune the fuel system. The correct value for this parameter is stamped on the engine information plate. Only change this value if the engine is rerated or if a new ECM has been installed. Factory passwords are required to change this parameter.FTS
This parameter is another parameter that represents a fuel system adjustment that was performed at the factory in order to fine-tune the fuel system. Only change this value if the engine is rerated or if a new ECM has been installed. Factory passwords are required to change this parameter.Low Idle Speed
This parameter is the engine minimum allowable operating speed.High Idle Speed
The parameter is programmed into the software.Coolant Level Sensor
Set this parameter to "Installed" in order to configure the ECM for the installation of a coolant level sensor.Exhaust Temperature Sensor Installation Status
Set this parameter to "Installed" in order to configure the ECM for the installation of an exhaust temperature sensor.Secondary Engine ECM Function Configuration
This parameter will set the type of ECM function configuration.Engine Acceleration Rate
The parameter is the rate of acceleration and of deceleration.Engine State Control Input Configuration
The parameter is used to select the input type for the Start/Run/Stop feature.Engine State Control Secondary Input Configuration
This parameter will select the installation status of the secondary input configuration.Engine State Control Default Value
This parameter will set the value of the engine state control.Engine State Control Hardwired Input Type Configuration
This parameter will set the hardwired input type of the engine state control.Cooldown Engine Speed
This parameter defines the engine rpm level when the Engine Control Switch (ECS) is placed in the STOP position.Engine Cooldown Duration
This parameter defines engine operation at the cooldown speed. Programming this parameter to 0 will disable this function.Engine Speed Droop
"Droop" is the downward adjustment in engine speed at full load and at high idle.Torque Limit Enable Status
This parameter can be set to either "Disabled" or "Enabled".Maximum Engine Torque Limit
This parameter is rating dependant.Minimum Engine Torque Limit
This parameter is rating dependant.Droop Mode Selection
This parameter can be set to either "Disabled" or "Enabled".
