The DEF dosing system tests consist of two separate tests. The DEF dosing system accuracy test and the DEF dosing system verification test.

Connect to Cat ET.
Select the Diagnostics tab.
Select the Active Diagnostic Codes tab.
Select the desired DEF Dosing system test.Logged Diagnostic Codes
The purpose of this screen is to show all of the logged diagnostic codes.The logged diagnostic codes do not show the hour meter of the first and last occurrence. Some diagnostic codes will show the number of occupancies.In order to clear any logged diagnostic codes, the key switch must be in the ON position and the engine NOT running.
Select the Logged Diagnostic Codes tab.Note: If the logged engine codes do not clear, ensure the “All ECM” box in the lower right corner of the ET screen is NOT checked.Active Event Codes

Select the Diagnostics tab.
Select the Diagnostic Tests tab.

An active code occurs, if the test is not successful.Intake Throttle Valve Override
The intake throttle valve override will test the intake throttle motor and position sensor are functioning properly by opening and closing the intake throttle valve. During this test, the intake throttle valve can be heard opening and closing. The key switch must be ON (engine not running) in order to run this test.
Connect to Cat ET
Select the diagnostics tab.
Select diagnostic tests.
Select override parameters.
Select Intake “Throttle Valve Override”.
If the test fails, an active code will occur.Start Aid Relay Override
The start aid relay override will test the start aid relay to ensure that the components are functioning properly. During the test the start aid relay can be heard turning on and off. The keyswitch must be ON (engine not running) in order to run this test.
Connect to Cat ET.
Select the diagnostics tab.
Select diagnostic tests.
Select override parameters.
Select “Start Aid Relay Override”.If the test fails, an active code will occur.EGR Valve Control Override
The EGR valve control test is under override parameters. This test will not run until coolant temperature is 65 C or higher. Below that temperature, the EGR valve position will be -17 percent. When the coolant temperature increases to 65 C the EGR valve position number will become a positive number.Cat ET Location
Connect to Cat ET.
Select the Diagnostics tab.
Select the Diagnostic Tests tab.
Select the “EGR Valve Control Override”.

Select new value “ON”
Select “OK”During this test, the EGR valve control command and the EGR valve position should move together. If the parameters do not stay within a certain percentage, there will be a failure and an active code will occur.Fuel Pump Calibration
The 523600-0 Initial Pump Calibration code will be active if the Engine ECM is replaced. To change the code to a logged code, the Fuel Pump Calibration must be performed. Perform after replacing the engine ECM, the high-pressure pump, the suction control valve, or the common rail manifold.
Connect to Cat ET.
Select the Service Tab
Select Fuel Pump Calibration.
Follow the instructions to calibrate and the 523600-0 Initial Pump Calibration code will change to a logged code. It is recommend to clear the logged code.Cylinder Cutout Test
