Note: On the lower bearing, align the hole in the bearing with the hole in the oil pump's body.
Put a coat of clean engine oil on the outside of each bearing. Use Tooling (B) and a press in order to install bearings (1) into the oil pump body. Install the bearings 12.30 0.25 mm (0.484 0.010 inch) below the surface of the oil pump body. The inside diameter of the bearings must be 60.039 0.040 mm (2.3637 0.0016 inch) after installation.

Put a coat of clean engine oil on the outside of each bearing. Use Tooling (B) and a press in order to install bearings (3) into oil pump cover (4) . Align the hole in the bearing with the hole in the cover. Install the bearings 7.50 0.25 mm (0.230 0.010 inch) below the surface of the oil pump body. The inside diameter of the bearings must be 60.039 0.040 mm (2.3637 0.0016 inch) after installation.

Ensure that dowels (9) are installed to a height of 12 1 mm (0.47 0.04 inch).
Put O-ring seal (5) and six O-ring seals (8) in position on cover (4) . Put clean engine oil on the seals.
Put a coat of clean engine oil on the bearings and the gear pockets in the oil pump body (10) .
Place oil pump drive shaft (6) and oil pump idler shaft (7) in oil pump body (10) . Ensure that the gears are 0.14 mm to 0.16 (0.0055 inch to 0.0063)below the surface of the housing.
Put clean engine oil on the bearings in cover (4) . Put clean engine oil on the top surface of the gears in oil pump body (10) .
Put cover (4) in position on oil pump body (10) .

Ensure that cover (4) is against the oil pump body. Ensure that all of the O-ring seals are in place. Install the bolts that hold cover (4) to the oil pump body.
Ensure that plug (11) is installed in the oil pump idler shaft.
Ensure that plug (12) is installed in the front cover.

Note: Ensure that dowel (13) is installed at the location that is shown in Illustration 5 for a SAE standard rotation engine.
Install dowel (13) to a height of 8 1 mm (0.32 0.04 inch).
Ensure that two plugs (15) are installed.
Install Tooling (A) .
Install the gear and washer (14) . Install the bolt.
Strike the head of the bolt with a hammer. Tighten the bolt again.

Ensure that plug (16) is installed in the oil pump drive shaft.
Ensure that hollow dowel (17) is installed to a height of 4.0 0.5 mm (0.16 0.02 inch).
Place the O-ring seal on the dowel. Put a coat of clean engine oil on the seal.
Install the O-ring seals on cover (18) and cover (19) . Put a coat of clean engine oil on the seals.
Install cover (18) and cover (19) .
Rotate the pump by hand. The pump must rotate freely. If the pump does not rotate freely, disassemble the pump in order to determine the cause.End By: Install the engine oil pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pump - Install".
