Introduction
The 0R-4426 Remanufactured Engine can be used to replace the original 950F and the 950F Series II Engine Arrangements. The following engine arrangements are included: 7E-0576, 4P-9992, 100-5839, 100-7024, 102-8822, 102-9890, 106-1756, 106-1757, 106-1758 and 109-1743 .The remanufactured 3116 engines include all of the updates to the engine since the original introduction of the 950F. The following updated features are included with the remanufactured 3116 engine: improved pistons and rings, turbocharger, governor, oil pan of a larger capacity and fuel filter. This engine is remanufactured with the same configuration as the 950F Series II that is equipped with Full Hydraulic Brakes (FHB). This remanufactured engine does not include an air compressor. Earlier machines that are equipped with air brakes require an air compressor that has either one cylinder or two cylinders. The air compressor from the original engine can be reused or the air compressor from the original engine can be replaced, if necessary. The following items are not shipped with the 0R-4426: front crankshaft damper, fan drive, shut off solenoid, sound suppression cover for valve cover, flywheel and flywheel housing, starter and alternator. These components should be reused, reconditioned or replaced. Note: When you transfer components, always use new seals and new gaskets.

Instructions
Engine Oil Capacity
The larger oil pan has increased the oil capacity to 31 L (8.3 US gal). Earlier 950F engines had oil capacities of 20 L (5.2 US gal). Place a new Refill Capacities Chart, SEES6492 in the Operations and Maintenance Management Guide over the original chart.Oil Specification and Oil Change Interval
Reference: Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU6250, "Caterpillar Machine Fluids Recommendations".Double Clamp the Air Inlet Hoses
Double clamp the hoses for the air inlet. Connect the turbocharger to the air inlet pipe by using 16 cm (6.3 inch) of 5P-1263 Hose . Secure the hose with two 8T-6675 Clamps (constant torque hose clamps) on each end of the hose. For 950F Series II, use a formed 101-6981 Hose with two 8T-6675 Hose Clamp and two 9X-2201 Clamps .Sound Suppression Cover
Reuse the sound suppression cover from the original engine.Flywheel Housing Seal

The seal must be installed in the correct location (4) on the 2W-6546 Cover (3). DO NOT install the seal in the groove (5). Improper installation will result in leakage of torque converter oil into the flywheel housing. This will result in an external oil leak.Note: A 8C-3091 O-ring Seal that is damaged or a 8C-3091 O-ring Seal that is cut should be replaced.Flywheel
Install the flywheel from the original engine. Use 9S-3263 Thread Lock on the bolts for mounting the flywheel. Tighten the bolts to the following torque 125 15 N m (92 11 lb ft).Note: The flywheel for 950F is not interchangeable with a flywheel from 950F Series II.Oil Level Gauge and Guide Tube
Do not change the dipstick (oil level gauge). Use the dipstick that is supplied with the remanufactured engine.Air Compressor and Lines (if equipped)
Transfer the following items from the original engine: the original air compressor, air compressor line, the oil filler tube and the oil manifold. If the original one or two cylinder air compressor has high hours, Caterpillar recommends replacing the air compressor. For easiest installation, use the same type of air compressor and use the same size of air compressor. This will allow the use of the same lines and the same fittings. The machines can be upgraded from a one cylinder air compressor to a two cylinder air compressor. Use the two cylinder air compressor and lines with related parts information for early 950F Series II (S/N: 5SK; 8TK; 4DJ). These machines are equipped with 100-7024 102-9890 4P-9992 Engine Arrangements .

(6) Machined mounting surfaceUse two new water lines for the air compressor if the remanufactured engine cylinder block has a machined mounting surface (6). The machined mounting surface (6) is located above the side cover near the flywheel housing. This additional machined mounting surface (6) may interfere with the original water lines for the air compressor.

This remanufactured engine is not equipped with the electric air inlet heater starting aid. If the original engine is equipped with this feature the parts may be transferred to the remanufactured engine. The electric air inlet heater is located between the turbocharger and the inlet manifold. Use one 7C-1152 Gasket and use two 125-8842 Gaskets when the components are transfered. Hoses and Belts
