2. Remove bolt (1) and washers from each side of plate assembly (2). 3. Remove nut (5), clip (3) and brace (4) from the plate assembly. Tilt the plate assembly on the hydraulic tank. 4. Loosen the clamps (7) and slide hose (8) on tube assembly.5. Remove bolt (6), clip and two hoses from the timing gear housing. 6. Disconnect the temperature indicator wire (10) and remove two bolts (9) and two bolts (12).7. Remove water pump (11) and gasket from engine.Install Water Pump
Bolts (2) were left in the water pump housing for installation.1. Check the O-ring seal on the water pump and the gasket for the elbow and make a replacement if necessary. 2. Put the water pump (1) in position in the engine and install pump bolts (2) and the elbow bolts. 3. Install the temperature indicator wire (3). 4. Put brace (6) and clip (5) in position, and install bolt (4) to hold them in place. 5. Put hoses and clip in position and install bolt (8).6. Slide hose (9) on water pump and tighten clamps (10).7. Install bolts and washers to hold the plate assembly (7) in position.Disassemble Water Pump
start by:a) remove water pump 1. Remove two bolts (2), elbow (1) and gasket from water pump. 2. Remove bolts (4) and cover (3) from housing. 3. Loosen bolt (5) approximately .25 in. (6.35 mm). Hit the bolt with a soft hammer to remove impeller (6) from the shaft. Remove bolt (5) and impeller (6). 4. Remove spring (7) and seal assembly (8) from the shaft. 5. Turn the housing over and remove bolt (9). 6. After the removal of bolt (9) install bolt from tooling (A) in shaft and gear assembly (10).7. Put plate from driver group in tooling (A) on top of bolt, and install the remainder of tooling (A) on gear and bearing assembly as shown.8. Remove gear and bearing assembly (10) with tooling (A). Remove the bearing and gear assembly. The gear is held in place by two pins on the bottom. 9. If necessary remove bearing (11) from the gear with tool (B). 10. Remove retaining ring (12) from housing with tooling (C). Remove the bearing and shaft assembly. 11. If necessary, remove bearing (13) from shaft with tooling (D) and a press. 12. Turn the housing over and remove seal with tooling (D).Assemble Water Pump
The seal must be installed with the lip toward the bearings. 1. Install the lip type seal in housing with tooling (A) to the bottom of the seal counterbore. Put a thin layer of engine oil on the lip of the seal. 2. Use a press and tooling (A) to install bearing (1) on shaft (2).3. Install the shaft and bearing assembly in housing. 4. Install retaining ring (3) in housing with tooling (B). 5. Use a press and tooling (A) to install bearing (4) on gear (5).
When gear is installed, make sure the pins on the gear engage the holes in the shaft.
6. Put gear (6) and bearing in position on the shaft and install washer and bolt.
Clean water only is permitted for use as a lubricant for assistance at installation. Do not damage or put hands on the wear surface of the carbon ring or the ceramic ring. Install the ceramic ring with the smoothest face of the ring toward the carbon seal assembly.
7. Put the ceramic ring (7) in position in the rubber seal. Use hand pressure and tool (which is with the replacement ring) to install the ceramic ring and rubber seal. 8. Remove the spring from the seal assembly (8). Use hand pressure and the tool (which is with the replacement ring) to install the seal assembly. Push seal assembly on the shaft until the seal faces make light contact. 9. Install spring (9) on the seal assembly. 10. Put impeller (10) in position on the shaft. 11. Install washer and bolt (12). Tighten the bolt to a torque of 28 1 lb.ft. (38 1 N m).12. Install a new gasket and cover (11) on the housing. 13. Install a new gasket and elbow (13) on the housing.end by:a) install water pump
