Slide locking tab (8) into the unlocked position. Disconnect harness assembly (7). Slide the connection for harness assembly (7) from bracket (9) .
Loosen V-band clamp (2). Support the exhaust back pressure valve (1). Reposition the V-band clamp in order to allow removal of the back pressure valve.Note: If the V-band clamp remains tight on the flanges, apply releasing fluid on the V-band clamp in order to assist removal. Lightly tap the bolts on the V-band clamp with a soft faced hammer in order to assist removal. Do not use a prybar to remove the V-band clamp.
Make temporary marks on the exhaust back pressure valve (1) and exhaust back pressure valve adaptor (3) to aid realignment. Remove the exhaust back pressure valve.
If necessary, follow Step 4.a through Step 4.d in order to remove adaptor (3) .
Make temporary marks on the back pressure valve adaptor and the turbocharger to ensure the correct orientation during installation.
Remove nuts (6) and back pressure valve adaptor (3) .
Remove gasket (4) (not shown).

If necessary, install studs (5) to the turbocharger.
Clean the gasket surface of the turbocharger and back pressure valve adaptor (3) .
Position gasket (4) (not shown) onto studs (5) .
Install back pressure valve adaptor (3) to the turbocharger. Using the alignment marks made during the disassembly procedure, ensure that the back pressure valve adaptor is correctly orientated.
Install nuts (6) to the studs. Tighten the nuts to a torque of 44 N m (33 lb ft).
Use Tooling (A) to lubricate the Allen headed bolt for V-band clamp (2). Position the V-band clamp onto adaptor (3) .
Align the temporary marks and install exhaust back pressure valve (1) to back pressure valve adaptor (3). If installed, ensure that the alignment dowel (10) is engaged in the alignment hole in Position (A) before the V-band clamp is installed.
Position V-band clamp (2) onto exhaust back pressure valve (1) and back pressure valve adaptor (3).
Tighten the V-band clamp (2) to a torque of 12 N m (106 lb in)Note: Ensue that the bolt for the V-band clamp does not contact any other components.
Slide the connection for harness assembly (7) onto bracket (9). Connect harness assembly (7). Slide locking tab (8) into the locked position.End By: Install the exhaust elbow. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Exhaust Elbow" for the correct procedure.
