Information:
Troubleshooting the Adapter
The following conditions can cause a fault in the communication to be stated by the remote input/output:
No communication from the remote input/output for more than 100 ms
No commands have been issued to the address over the remote input/output link within the last 255 link transactions.
If communication is lost to a module then the "Rack Fault Select" is enabled. The adapter will reset all of the digital outputs when one of the conditions above exist. The adapter will leave all of the digital outputs in the last state when one of the above conditions exist.A communication fault will be automatically cleared by a command from the processor if the processor restart lockout is not selected. A communication fault can be cleared by cycling the power to the adapter. When this happens all queued block transfers will be lost and all outputs will turn OFF regardless of the position of the "last state switch".Use the lights that are on the front of the module in order to troubleshoot the fault. The following conditions can exist:Communication States
Illustration 1 g00760529
Illustration 1 shows the "Normal Communiations" state of operation.
Illustration 2 g00760551
Illustration 2 shows the "Program or Test mode" state of operation.
Illustration 3 g00760554
Illustration 2 shows the "Communication" state of operation. Resume proper communication if there is no "procesor restart lockout".
Illustration 4 g00760557
Illustration 4 shows the "Processor lockout" state of operation. Cycle power in order to reset the fault. Resume proper communication.Fault in the Module
Illustration 5 g00760559
Illustration 5 indicates that problems with noise are present on the input/output bus. Cycle power in order to reset the fault.
Illustration 6 g00760563
Illustration 6 indicates that a replaced module that was different was installed after the removal of a module. The fault is reset automatically when the incorrect module is removed. Cycle power in order to establish a new identification for the module.
Illustration 7 g00760573
Illustration 7 indicates that the module is not responding. The module was possibly removed while the module was under power. Replace the same module or cycle power in order to establish a new identification for the module.
Illustration 8 g00760574
Illustration 8 indicates that the module is not responding. The module was possibly removed while the module was under power. Replace the same module or cycle power in order to establish a new identification for the module.Troubleshooting the Scanner
The following information can be used in order to troubleshoot the scanner. The "FAULT LED" is OFF whenever the scanner is operating properly. The "COMM LED" is only valid if the "FAULT LED" is OFF.The following illustrations show the possible faults for the scanner:
Illustration 9 g00760587
Illustration 9 indicates that the following fault is present:
A node that is duplicated is detected. Disconnect the RIO link from the scanner. Cycle the power or re-enter the "RUN" mode. Ensure that another scanner is not on the same network. If the problem continues, replace the scanner.
Illustration 10 g00760597
Illustration 10 indicates that an error in the hardware exists on the scanner. Replace the scanner.
Illustration 11 g00760601
Illustration 11 indicates that the processor has been powered in the "PROGRAM" mode. Return the processor to the "RUN" mode.
