PROBLEM
The starter cable on certain 330D and 336D Excavators may interfere with the engine oil hoses, the bracket, or the machine frame. The engine oil hoses may interfere with each other or with the machine frame. These interferences could result in wear of the cable and/or hoses. The wear may lead to an electrical short or an engine oil leak.

PARTS NEEDED

Part Number Description
2 1772215 STRAP-DUAL CLAMP (Before Failure Only)
In order to allow equitable parts availability to all participating dealers, please limit your initial parts order to not exceed 33% of dealership population. This is an initial order recommendation only, and the ultimate responsibility for ordering the total number of parts needed to satisfy the program lies with the dealer.
ACTION REQUIRED
To eliminate the interference, two actions need to be applied.
1. Add a 177-2215 Strap to the starter cable in order to improve the routing and retention of the starter cable and maintain the proper clearance between the starter cable, the bracket and the engine oil hoses. For machines equipped with a standard starting configuration, one 177-2215 Strap is needed. For machines equipped with a cold weather starting configuration, two 177-2215 Straps are needed.
2. Inspect the routing of the 203-1022 and 203-1023 Engine Oil Hoses. Eliminate any interference by adjusting the hose routing clamp orientation and fix the hoses in the proper position with the hose clamps.
Refer to the attached Rework Procedure for details.
