Information:


Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Make sure that the mating surfaces of the cylinder block and the engine mounting brackets are thoroughly clean. Install the front and rear engine mounting brackets in the bracket's original location.Note: Visually check the condition of the front and rear rubber engine mounts. If the mounts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. If the mounts are compressed, use new parts for replacement.
Put the lower front and rear engine mounts in the original locations in the front and rear mounting brackets.Note: Be careful to not damage the radiator core during the installation of the engine and main hydraulic pump in the machine. The engine must be kept level during the installation in order to prevent possible interference between the components.

Typical Example
Fasten a suitable lifting device to lifting brackets (29) . Carefully position the engine and the main hydraulic pump in the frame of the machine. The combined weight of the engine and main hydraulic pump is approximately 575 kg (1270 lb) .

Typical ExampleNote: Apply 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease on the shoulders of four mounting bolts (26) .
Install the rubber mounts, the washers and four bolts (26) in the engine mounts. Tighten the engine mounting bolts to a torque of 155 10 N m (115 7 lb ft) .
Connect fuel hose (28) to the fuel transfer pump. Tighten hose clamp (27) .

Connect hose (25) .
Tighten four hose clamps (24) .
Install the support that holds sheet (23) and sheet (4) to the machine. Install the washers and the bolts in the support.
Install sheet (23) . Install the washers and bolts (22) that secure sheet (23) to the machine.
Connect electrical connector (21) .Note: Check the condition of all O-ring seals that are used in the ends of the hose assemblies. The hose assemblies connect to the main hydraulic pump and the pilot pump.
Install hose assemblies (20) .

The counterweight is removed for photographic purposes.
Feed hose (18) through the hole in sheet (23) . Connect hose (18) to the pump.
Connect hose (17) to the pump.
Position governor control cable (16) in the bracket assembly. Tighten nuts (15) that secure the governor control cable to the bracket.
Install clip (19) .Note: Apply 7M-7456 Compound to the threads of the governor control cable before assembly.
Connect governor control cable (16) . Install the washer and nut (14) .
Install all electrical harness. Connect all electrical connectors.

Connect spring (10) on the governor control cable.
Connect the bottom radiator hose. Tighten the hose clamp on the bottom radiator hose.
Position fan shroud (12) on the machine. Move the fan shroud toward the engine.
Connect hose (13) . Connect hose (11) .
Connect radiator top hose (9) .
Connect hose (8) to the crankcase breather.
Connect hose (6) to the turbocharger.
Tighten five hose clamps (7) .
Install the fan. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fan - Remove and Install" in this manual.

Connect the ground wire to the engine.
Slide plate (3) on two bolts (1) . Install four bolts (2) . Tighten two bolts (1) .
Fill the hydraulic oil tank to the correct level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual for the correct procedure to fill the hydraulic oil tank.
Fill the cooling system to the correct level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual for the correct procedure to fill the cooling system.End By: Install the hood on the machine.
