Introduction
This Special Instruction is intended as a general reference regarding the configurations of the transmission, engine and implement Electronic Control Module (ECM) on mid-size wheel loaders.Note: The 938H includes the IT38H and the 962H Includes IT62H unless noted.Note: The transmission, the engine and implement configurations are programmed from the factory per the machine shipping order. Changes or adjustments may need to be chosen due to the operator and customer preferences, the addition of an attachment, reinstallation of software or replacement of the ECM. Electronic Technician (ET) and in some cases the 4C-8195 Control Service Tool should be used to configure and or adjust the configurations. When changing some of the configurations it maybe necessary to recalibrate the system.Transmission Configuration Definitions

Example of a transmission configuration screenMachine Speed Limit (938H and 980H)
The machine speed limit can be adjusted for the desired maximum speed for the operation. This feature is available on the 938H and 980H. The speed limit can be adjusted in increments. The increments are based on top speed for each gear with a minimum of 6 mph and a maximum setting of 28 mph. If the ground speed limiter is installed on the machine, the machine speed limit will not be adjustable above 20 mph. Once the ground speed limiter is installed, a password will be required to change the machine speed limit on the 938H.Ground Speed Limiter Installation Status (938H to 980H)
The installation status of the ground speed limiter limits the 950H through 972H machine ground speed to 20 km/h (12 mph). The machine ground speed limit on the 938H and the 980H is determined by setting the machine speed limit. The factory password is required to install or to uninstall the ground speed limiter on the 950H through the 972H.Transmission Maximum Forward Gear (938H to 980H)
The transmission maximum forward gear sets the maximum gear that the machine will shift to in the forward direction.

938H to 980H     Gear     1     1     2    Speed Shift Control Throttle Shift Enabled Status (938H)
The speed shift control throttle shift lowers the engine speed briefly in order to reduce the loads on the drive train during a directional shift and or a speed shift. This results in a smoother shift. Select disabled or enabled for the 938H.Control Throttle Shift (CTS) Enable (950H to 980H)
The Control Throttle Shift (CTS) lowers the engine speed briefly in order to reduce the loads on the drive train during a directional shift, resulting in a smoother shift. Select Disabled or Enabled for the 950H to the 980H CTS configuration. Tire Rolling Radius (938H to 980H)
The tire rolling radius setting improves the speedometer accuracy. The tire rolling radius is defined as the distance from the center of the wheel hub to the ground. Enter the tire rolling radius for the tires installed on the machine.
