Information:

1. Drain the oil from the oil pan.2. Remove nuts (1), the washers and nuts that hold mounts (2) in place. A sleeve and collar will come off with the bolts. 3412 Generator Sets will have four bolts only that fasten the engine front support to the base.3. Remove three mounts (2). 4. Loosen bolts (3) that hold the generator in place. 5. Fasten tool (A) to the cylinder head as shown. Fasten a hoist to tool (A) and to the lifting bracket on the other cylinder head.
Do not use your hand to remove mounts (4). Personal injury could be the result if the engine falls. To prevent personal injury, use a long screwdriver to remove mounts (4).
6. Use tool (A) and a hoist to lift the front of the engine. Remove mounts (4). The weight of the front of the engine is approximately 1587 kg (3500 lb.). 7. Lift the front of the engine enough to install a 152 mm (6 in.) block (5) as shown. Lower the front of the engine on to the block.8. Remove the bolts and lower oil pan (6) down on to the base. The weight of the oil pan for the 3412 Engine is approximately 27 kg (60 lb.) and for the 3408 Engine is 20 kg (45 lb.). 9. Remove the bolt that holds tube (8) to the oil pump. Remove two bolts (7) that hold support (9) against the cylinder block. 3412 Generator Sets will have four bolts that hold the support to the cylinder block.10. Disconnect tube (8) from the oil pump. Lower tube (8), the suction bell and support (9) down into the oil pan. 11. Connect oil pan (6) from below the engine. 12. Remove tube (8), the suction bell and support (9) from the oil pan.Install Oil Pan
1. Make sure O-ring seal (2) is in position on tube (1). Put clean engine oil on the O-ring seal.2. Put tube (1), the suction bell and support (3) into the oil pan. 3. Put oil pan (4) in position below the engine. 4. Put tube (1) in position in the oil pump. Install the bolt that holds it in place. Install two bolts (5) that hold support (3) in position on the cylinder block. 5. Make sure the gasket is in position between the oil pan and the cylinder block. Install oil pan (4) on the cylinder block. The weight of the oil pan for the 3412 Engine is approximately 27 kg (60 lb.) and for the 3408 Engine is 20 kg (45 lb.).6. If plug (6) was removed to drain the oil from the oil pan, install the gasket and plug (6). Make sure the side of the gasket with the seam is against the oil pan.7. If one of three plugs (7) was removed to drain the oil from the oil pan, put 9S3263 Thread Sealant on the threads and install the plug in the oil pan. Tighten plugs (7) to a torque of 81 11 N m (60 8 lb.ft.).8. Remove the bolts and lower oil pan (4) down on to the base. The weight of the oil pan is approximately 27 kg (60 lb.). 9. Use tool (A) and the hoist to lift the front of the engine enough so that the block can be removed from between the engine front support and the support assembly on the base.
Do not put your hand between the support assembly on the base and engine front support (8). Personal injury could be the result if the engine falls. To prevent personal injury, use a long screwdriver to push mounts (10) into position.
10. Put mounts (10) in position between the support assembly on the base and engine front support (8). Make sure the flat side of each mount is toward the engine front support.11. Lower the front off the engine down on to mounts (10).12. Put mount (11) in position on bolt (12). Make sure the flat side of mount (11) is toward the head on bolt (12). Install the sleeve and collar on the bolt. Install bolts (12) and nuts (9) to hold the front of the engine in position. 3412 Generator Sets have four bolts only that hold the engine front support on the base. They do not have mounts (10) and (11). 13. Tighten bolts (13) that hold the generator in position.14. Fill the engine with oil to the correct level.
