Seat the pivot points of the dial indicator by spinning the dial indicator.
Set the dial indicator to zero.
Rotate the crankshaft from the starting position until the dial indicator approaches interference with the connecting rod on the opposite side. Observe the readings of the dial indicator while the crankshaft is rotated.
Rotate the crankshaft to the starting position. The dial indicator must return to zero.
