49908 Force SCREW (.250-28 X .750)

1. Disconnect elbow (1) from the oil pump. 2. Remove bolts (2) and locks that hold the oil pump in position.3. Remove the oil pump (3). The weight of the oil pump is 35 lb. (16 kg).Install Oil Pump
1. Put the No. 1 piston on top center compression stroke.2. Turn both balancer shafts until the flat part is away from the oil pan plate. Install two 3/8"-16 NC bolts 1 1/2" long through the oil pan plate into the holes in the balancer shafts. This will prevent balancer shaft movement. Do not tighten the two bolts (1) against the bottom of the countersunk holes in the balancer shafts. 3. Put the oil pump (2) in position on the engine block. Install the bolts and locks that hold the oil pump in position.4. Remove bolts (1). Check to see that the balancer shaft timing is correct. Balancer shaft timing is correct when the holes in the balancer shafts are in alignment with the holes in the oil pan plate and No. 1 piston is at top center compression stroke.5. Connect the suction tube elbow to the oil pump.end by:a) install oil panDisassemble Oil Pump
start by:a) remove oil pump1. Remove the idler gear from the oil pump. 2. Remove bell assembly (3) from the oil pump.3. Remove three bolts (1) from body (2). Remove the body. 4. Remove two bearings (4) from the body. 5. Remove the bolt and washer that hold the drive gear (5) on the oil pump. Use tool (A) to remove drive gear (5) from the shaft.6. Remove the key from the shaft.7. Remove the bushing from the drive gear. 8. Remove gear (7) from the shaft.9. Remove shaft assembly (8) and spacer (6). 10. Remove gear (9) from the shaft assembly. Remove the shaft assembly from the spacer and the key from the shaft. 11. Remove shaft assembly (12) from the body.12. Remove two bearings (10) from the body.13. Remove bolt (11) from cover (13). Remove the cover and valve assembly from the body.Assemble Oil Pump
1. Use tool (A) to install the two bearings (1) in the body.2. Put the valve assembly (2) in position in the body. Install the cover and bolt. 3. Put clean SAE 30 oil on the bearings in the body and the shaft assembly (3). Install the shaft assembly into the body. 4. Put shaft assembly (4) in spacer (5). Install the key in the shaft assembly. Install gear (6). Put the shaft assembly and spacer in position in the body. 5. Install gear (7) on the shaft.6. Use tool (A) to install a new bushing in the drive gear. 7. Put drive gear (8) in position on the shaft. Install the bolt and washer that hold the drive gear in position on the oil pump. 8. Use tool (A) to install the two bearings in the body.9. Put body (9) in position on the oil pump. Install the three bolts that hold the body in position.10. Put clean SAE 30 oil in the oil pump. The pump must turn free by hand.end by:a) install oil pump
