When reporting the repair, use "PS0457" as Part Number, "7755" as Group Number, and "96" as Description Code. Although this Program is to be administered as described above on the Affected Product, turbochargers in customer and dealer parts stock should be reworked as soon as possible. Termination Date

Problem
Early versions of both the one and the two piece gas inlet housings for the turbochargers used on certain 3606, 3608, 3612, and 3616 Engines may leak in various locations. New 24 bolt two piece gas inlet housings can be installed to provide better sealing.

Action Required
***** Parts Stock ***** Replace the exhaust gas inlet housing on all 7C5125, 7C5846, 7C5847, 7C5848, 7C6148, 4W8685, and 9Y7032 Turbochargers in customer and/or dealer parts stock. ***** Affected Product ***** If the earlier exhaust gas inlet housing is cracked or leaking, replace the housing with a 4P0308 Housing (3606 and 3612) or a 4P0309 Housing (3608 and 3616). Record the serial number of the engine and turbocharger and report this information to Service Engineering. On 3612 and 3616 Engines equipped with two turbochargers; if one earlier exhaust gas inlet housing is cracked or leaking, repair both turbochargers by installing the appropriate housings.

Parts Disposition
All parts removed (with the exception of cores used for Caterpillar Remanufactured parts) should be rendered useless and scrapped immediately upon completion of the repair.
