Low oil pressure shutdowns are occurring on 3512 and 3516 Generator Set Engines equipped with EMCP II and a 35 Amp alternator. This occurs at start-up when the oil pressure exceeds the range of the sensor. Noise generated on the oil pressure signal line can cause an inaccurate low oil pressure reading by the Generator Set Control even though the engine has high oil pressure.

The sensor is a direct replacement and will not require any additional modifications. In most cases, this event would have surfaced during original commissioning. The program can be administered on Prime 3512 and 3516 Gensets at dealer discretion; however, if a prime genset is not exhibiting this problem, it is not necessary to administer this program.
