When submitting claim for Parts Stock Action, Use the appropriate 99Z as the s/n, the appropriate Service Letter Program Number as the Part number in the Part Causing Failure field, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.

PROBLEM
Certain 10R8660 Reman Water Pumps may have incorrect gear placement on the shaft that may lead to excessive axial end play which may result in leaks. A 10R8660 Water Pump is included in the Engine Overhaul Kits and Long Blocks listed in the below.
ACTION REQUIRED
Inspect the 10R8660 Water Pump contained in all 20R7411, 20R7412, 20R7413, and 20R7414 Engine Overhaul Kits and 10R9730, 10R9371, 10R9068, 10R9486, 10R4411, 10R4412, and 10R4413 Long Blocks built prior to 01Feb2020 in dealer parts stock.
All suspect inventory in Parts Distribution Centers have been inspected and are marked as inspected with a blue X (Image 1) and are acceptable to use.
Overhaul Kits and Long Blocks built on or after 01Feb2020 are acceptable to use.
When inspecting the 10R8660 Water Pump contained in the Overhaul Kit or Long Block use the following method.
Inspect gear placement on shaft (Image 2). If flush to touch (Image 3), it is acceptable use. Mark the packaging as inspected per this program and place the pump back into into the Overhaul Kit or Long Block and return the Overhaul Kit or Long Block back into dealer part stock.
If below (greater than 1 mm) (Image 4), then stand the pump on its side and pull the gear pressing on the housing looking for movement of greater than 1 mm (Image 5).
If movement of greater than 1 mm is detected, then remove the existing 10R8660 Water Pump from Overhaul Kit or Long Block and replace it with another 10R8660 Water Pump. Mark the Overhaul Kit or Long Block as inspected per this program, and return the Overhaul Kit or Long Block to dealer part stock.
If movement of 1 mm or less is found, mark the packaging as inspected per this program and place the pump back into into the Overhaul Kit or Long Block and return the Overhaul Kit or Long Block back into dealer part stock.

SERVICE CLAIM ALLOWANCES
Submit a claim for the Overhaul Kits and Long Blocks in dealer parts stock that needed a replacement Water Pump. One 10R8660 Water Pump is allowed for each Overhaul Kit and Long Block in dealer parts stock that needed the Water Pump replaced.
PARTS DISPOSITION
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
