Information:
start by:a) remove fuel injection pump housing and governorb) remove governor control rotochamber 1. Put the fuel injection pump housing on tool (A).2. Remove bolts (1) that hold the adapter housing to the plate. Remove the adapter housing, fuel ratio control and fuel solenoid shutoff as a unit. 3. Remove bolts (2) and (3). Loosen bolt (4). 4. Remove governor housing (5) from the pump housing. 5. Remove spring (10), flat washers (11), wave washer (9) and guide (8). Remove seat (6) and overfueling spring (7). 6. Pull shaft (13) up and remove it. Remove lever (12) from the housing. 7. Remove riser (follower) (16) from the shaft. Remove retaining ring (14) that holds lever (15) in place. Remove lever (15) from the dowel.
Tool (B) can cause damage to the cover. Always inspect the cover and install a new cover if needed.
8. Remove cover (17) with tool (B).9. Install the timing pin so the camshaft will not turn. 10. Remove three bolts (18) that hold the flyweight assembly. Remove the flyweight assembly from the pump housing.11. Remove the timing pin.Connection Of Governor To Fuel Injection Pump Housing
1. Put the fuel injection pump housing on tool (A).2. Install the timing pin so the camshaft will not turn.3. Put flyweight assembly (1) in position on the camshaft.
Be sure pin (2) that holds the shaft is in the correct position on back of the flyweight assembly.
The bolts for the flyweight assembly have a locking material on the threads and must not be used more than one time.4. Install new bolts for the flyweight assembly.
Never install a used flyweight cover that is bent.
5. Install the flyweight cover over the flyweight assembly with tool (B).6. Remove torque stop housing (3). Remove the torque control. See REMOVE AND INSTALL TORQUE STOP. 7. Grind a taper on the bottom edge of a 1/8" screwdriver (4). Install the screwdriver through the bolt hole in the governor housing. The screwdriver must fit evenly against the flyweight assembly cover. Make a mark (stake) in four places around the cover in line with the groove in the camshaft.8. Install the torque stop and housing. See REMOVE AND INSTALL TORQUE STOP. 9. Install lever (5) on the dowel. Install retaining ring (6). 10. Put riser (follower) (7) in position between the flyweights. Lift the flyweights up with a piece of wire and push the riser (follower) forward.11. Put lever (12) in position. Lever (12) will be in the correct position when the lever end is in the groove of riser (follower) (7) and ball end (10) is engaged in hole (11).
If lever (12) is not installed correctly, the governor can not operate and can cause the engine to over speed.
12. Inspect O-ring seal (8) and make a replacement if needed. Install shaft (9) to hold lever (12) in place. 13. Install overfueling spring (13) and seat (14) on the shaft. 14. Install guide (15), flat washer (16), wave washer (17), the other flat washer (18) and spring (19) in the governor housing. 15. Put the gasket in place and put governor housing (20) on the fuel injection pump housing and install the bolts.16. Put the throttle control shaft in the fuel shutoff (raised) position. If it is not, the fuel ratio control can be installed correctly.17. Put the gasket in place and install the adapter housing, fuel ratio control and fuel solenoid shutoff as a unit.end by:a) install governor control rotochamberb) install fuel injection pump housing and governorc) make adjustment of the fuel system setting (See FUEL SYSTEM SETTING in TESTING AND ADJUSTING)
