START BY:a) remove stub shaft*b) remove drive shaft (lower)*c) remove radiator guard****Note: Operation location is in POWER TRAIN DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY section.**Note: If lift facilities are available, the engine and torque converter can be removed straight out of the top of the machine without removal of the radiator guard.1. Remove mufflers. Remove all platforms, sheet metal and side panels that are necessary for removal of the engine. Drain transmission and engine.2. Remove crankcase guards. 3. Disconnect hose (3) from the torque converter sequence and pressure control valve. Remove bolt (1), then disconnect cable (2) from the torque converter sequence and pressure control valve. On all hoses or tubes that are removed or disconnected put caps or covers on them to keep out foreign material. Put identification on them for installation purposes.4. Disconnect two hydraulic hoses (4) from the transmission oil pump. 5. Disconnect wire assembly (5). 6. Remove cotter pin and pin (7), then disconnect governor control linkage (6). 7. Remove baffle (9) and air baffle section (8). 8. Disconnect wiring harness (10) from the relay panel. 9. Disconnect air conditioning line (11). 10. Disconnect lines (12) and (14). Remove water hose (13). 11. Disconnect wires (15) and (16) from the starter. 12. Disconnect hose (17) and clamp (18) from the torque converter.13. Disconnect hose (19) from the torque converter oil cooler. 14. Fasten tool (A) and a hoist to the engine and torque converter. Remove bolts (20) from support assembly on flywheel housing. 15. Remove bolts (21) from support assembly on opposite side of flywheel housing. 16. Remove four bolts (22) from the engine front support. Make a final check to be sure that all removals and disconnections have been made from the engine.17. Remove engine and torque converter (23) as a unit with tool (A) and a hoist. Weight of the unit is 3629 kg (8000 lb).Install Engine And Torque Converter
1. Fasten tool (A) and a hoist to the engine and torque converter (1). Put the engine and torque converter in position on the machine frame. 2. Install four bolts (2) on the engine front support. 3. Install rear support (4) and the two bolts (3) that hold it. 4. Install rear support (5) with the two bolts (6) that hold it. 5. Connect hose (7) and clamp (9) to the torque converter.6. Connect hose (8) to the torque converter oil cooler. 7. Connect the wires (10) and (11) that were disconnected from the starter. 8. Connect lines (12) and (13). Install water hose (14). 9. Connect air conditioning hose (15) to the air conditioning compressor. See AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATING, CHARGING THE SYSTEM, Form No. SENR7454. 10. Connect wiring harnesses (16) to the relay panel. 11. Install air baffle section (17). Install baffle (18). 12. Connect the governor control linkage (19) to the governor with the pin (20) and cotter pin that holds it. 13. Connect wire assembly (21). 14. Connect two hydraulic hoses (22) to the transmission oil pump. 15. Connect hose (24) to the torque converter sequence and pressure control valve. Connect cable (23) to the valve with the bolt that holds it.16. Install crankcase guards. Install all side panels, supports, sheet metal and all platforms that were removed for engine removal.17. Fill transmission and engine with oil to their correct levels.
