Problem
The engine oil pan gasket and/or valve cover gasket may leak oil on certain CS533, CP563, CS563 and CS583 Compactors, 325 and 325L Excavators, IT28F Tool Carriers, 928F, 950F, 950F SERIES II and 960F Loaders and 613C Series II Wheel Tractors.

This is a 3.5-hour job.
An additional 3.0 hours of labor may be claimed for 950F, 950F Series II and 960F Loaders, due to more difficult access to oil pan.
An additional .5 hour of labor may be claimed for replacing the valve cover gasket (on engine s/n 98Z1-1145)

Oil Pan Gasket (Engine S/N 98Z1-4080)
In addition to part listed, the serviceman will need the following supply items: 5H2471 Gasket Cement, 7M7260 Sealant and 6V1541 Primer.
The new pan gasket is identified by a tab on both sides of the engine along the pan rail. Refer to Illustration 1.
1. Refer to your service manual for removal of oil pan and gasket.2. Clean gasket residue from oil pan mounting surface and block mating surface with 6V1541 Primer.3. Apply a narrow film, 3 mm thick, of the red 7M7260 Gasket material to the four corners of the cylinder block where it joins the front housing and rear seal carrier (T-joints). At each of the four locations, apply the narrow film of sealant directly over the joint formed by the block and the housing. Do not spread the sealant.4. Use a thin film of 5H2471 Gasket Cement on the oil pan to hold the new gasket in place during pan installation.5. Install the pan and gasket. Follow the tightening sequence shown in Illustration 2 and tighten bolts to a torque of 28 7 N m (20 5 lb.ft). Install the front and rear oil pan bolts by hand. The threads in the aluminum front housing and aluminum seal carrier can be stripped if an air-wrench is used.
6. Finalize installation procedure following service manual instructions.7. Refill engine with oil (multigrade API Specification CF-4 recommended).Check for leaks.Valve Cover Gasket (Engine S/N 98Z1-1145)
1. Remove the valve cover and gasket.2. Replace the valve cover gasket with a new 1051542 Gasket. Use 5H2471 Gasket Cement to hold the new gasket in place on the valve cover during the installation.Follow the tightening sequence shown in Illustration 3 and tighten the valve cover bolts to a torque of 12 3 N m (9 2 lb.ft).
