Introduction
Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until the information is read and understood. This Special Instruction describes the customer wiring connections that are available for connecting a customer control panel to the engine control panel.Refer to Schematic, KENR8236, "G3304B and G3306B Engine Electrical System" for the correct wiring connections and component locations.Note: The location of customer supplied components are the responsibility of the customer.Power Supply

The customer interconnect terminal strip, located inside the control panel, is shown in Illustration 3. The terminals are described in Table 1.

Function Terminal ECM Terminal Wire ID Comments
CAN shield 1 J1-22 Y958-C1 Various ECM outputs are transmitted over this data link
CAN data link + 2 J1-21 Y956-C3
CAN data link - 3 J1-20 Y957-C3
Action alarm 4 J1-64 X416-C4 This normally open output is used to illuminate the amber warning lamp that is on the operator panel. The lamp indicates that there is an electrical problem or that there is abnormal operating condition.
If the output is activated, the output is connected to the -Battery. The ground is internal to the ECM. There is no connection on the terminal block for the output.
The driver can absorb a maximum of 0.3 A.
Use this connection for a fault alarm on the customer panel.
Engine fault 5 J1-17 Y993-C5 This normally open output is used to illuminate the red stop lamp that is on the operator panel. The lamp indicates an engine shutdown because of an electrical problem or that there is abnormal operating condition.
If the output is activated, the output is connected to the -Battery.
The driver can absorb a maximum of 0.3 A.
Use this connection for a fault shutdown on the customer panel.
Engine running 6 J1-63 Y993-C6 This normally open output is used to illuminate the "Engine On" lamp that is on the operator panel. The output is used to indicate that the engine is in the run mode.
When the output is activated, the output is connected to the -Battery.
Desired speed 7 n/a 388-CH The desired speed requires a 0 to 5 VDC analog input.
Low idle request 8 J1-47 C418-C8 Unused
Stop 9 J1-50 R776-C9 Unused
Start 10 J1-51 R775-C10 Unused
Digital return 11 n/a J842-C11 This connection provides a return for various inputs.
User-defined shutdown 12 J1-49 G966-C12 When the engine is not running, the customer equipment grounds this wire to the digital return. The ECM senses the closing of the digital return and the ECM permits the engine to be ready for start-up.
If this input is not grounded, the driven equipment is considered to be NOT ready and the engine cannot be cranked. The ECM generates an event code if this input is not grounded within the programmed delay time.
When the engine is running, this input normally continues to be grounded. If the engine is running and this input is disconnected from the ground, the ECM immediately generates an event code and an engine shutdown.
The engine is shipped with a jumper wire from terminal 12 to terminal 11. Remove the jumper wire when the customer connection is made.
Do not use this input for normal shutdown.
Crank terminate 13 J1-61 D772-C13 This output is activated when the engine crank terminate speed is achieved. Typically, the crank terminate speed is 250 rpm.
The output remains active until the engine speed is reduced to 0 rpm. Normally, the output circuit is open. When the output is activated, the output is grounded internally in the ECM. The control panel does not have an indicator for this output.
The sinking driver can absorb a maximum of 0.3 A.
Emergency stop 14 J1-52 344-C14 This input is normally closed. If the customer panel uses an emergency stop, the circuit must be wired in a series with the engine emergency stop.
The engine ECM must be power cycled to reset the emergency stop.
Keyswitch 15 J1-40 105-C15 When the ECS is in the "START" position, the keyswitch power is available. The start input to the ECM is grounded to the digital return. The normal sequence for start-up is initiated. When the start input is removed, a normal shutdown is initiated. If the cooldown is programmed, the engine operates for the cooldown period prior to shutdown.
When the ECS is in the "STOP" position, the keyswitch power is available. If the engine is running and the ECS is turned to the "STOP" position, the sequence for a normal shutdown is initiated. If the cooldown is programmed, the engine operates for the cooldown period prior to shutdown.
Ground 16 n/a 200-C16 -Battery
Auxiliary power 17 n/a 103-C17 This source of +Battery with a maximum of 20 A can be used by the customer.
5 V Power analog 18 J2-48 R997-C18 VS 5 200mA
Analog return 19 J2-40 J843-C19 VS Return 2
