(1) 9 435-3131 435-3131 Bolt Torque bolts 1 through 9 in numerical order to 100 20 N m (75 15 lb ft).
After all 24 bolts have been torqued to first required specification. Torque bolts 1 through 9 in numerical order to 135 20 N m (100 15 lb ft).
(1) 15 418-4204 435-3128 Bolt Install spacers on bolts 15 through 24.
Torque bolts 10 through 24 in numerical order to 40 10 N m (23 7 lb ft).
After all 24 bolts have been torqued to first required specification. Torque bolts 10 through 24 in numerical order to 55 10 N m (40 7 lb ft).
— 1 523-3236 Flywheel Housing Gp During assembly, inspect the following components for any foreign materials: the front face of the flywheel housing, the two sides of the flywheel housing gasket and the rear face of the cylinder block. These components must be free of the following substances: oil, fuel, water, gasket adhesive, assembly compounds, and any other foreign material. Apply Loctite 587 Blue High Performance RTV to the space between the cylinder block, the flywheel housing, and the oil pan. Install the oil pan gasket and the oil pan. Installation Procedure

B - Loctite 587 Blue High Performance RTV - Note: During assembly, inspect the following components for any foreign materials: the front face of the flywheel housing, the two sides of the flywheel housing gasket and the rear face of the cylinder block. These components must be free of the following substances: oil, fuel, water, gasket adhesive, assembly compounds, and any other foreign material. Apply a small amount of tooling (B) to fill the space between the cylinder block, the flywheel housing, and the oil pan. Install the oil pan gasket and the oil pan.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Note: Flywheel housing bolts are pre-applied with retaining compound . New bolts must be used when installing flywheel housing.

Typical example
Install tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to flywheel housing (1). The weight of flywheel housing (1) is approximately 111 kg (245 lb).

Install spacers (3) to bolts 15 through 24.
Install flywheel housing (1) to the dowels in the cylinder block. Install 24 bolts (2) and remove tooling (A).

Bolt tightening sequence
Tighten the bolts, as follows:
Tighten bolt 1 through bolt 9.Torque for the bolts ... 100 20 N m (75 15 lb ft)
Tighten bolt 10 through bolt 24.Torque for the bolts ... 40 10 N m (30 10 lb ft)
Re torque bolts 1 through 24.Torque for the bolts ... 55 10 N m (40 10 lb ft)End By:
Install the engine oil pan. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pan - Remove and Install".
Install the electric starting motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Electric Starting Motor - Remove and Install".
Install the crankshaft rear seal. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft Rear Seal - Install".
