1. Fasten a hoist to the fan drive.2. Remove grease line (1) from the fan drive bracket. 3. Remove the bolts and fan drive (2) from automatic timing advance cover (3). The weight of fan drive (2) is 34 kg (75 lb.). The following steps are for the installation of the fan drive.4. Fasten a hoist and put fan drive (2) in position on the automatic timing advance cover. Install the bolts to hold the unit in position.5. Install grease line (1) on the fan drive bracket.6. Start By:a. remove fan drive
(Early D9L)1. Remove O-ring seal (3) from hub (4).2. Remove bolt (2) and washer (1) from the end of the shaft.3. Remove hub (4) and pulley (5) from the bracket assembly. 4. Remove bolts (6) that hold pulley (5) to hub (4). 5. Use tooling (A) to remove pulley (5) from the hub. 6. Remove spacer (7) from the bracket assembly shaft or from seal (8).7. Remove bearing (11) and spacer (10) from the end of hub (4).8. Remove seal (8), then bearing (9) from the other end of hub (4). 9. If necessary, use a press and push shaft (12) out of bracket (13) in the direction shown. Shaft (12) has a shoulder on it and can only be removed from the back of bracket (13). 10. Use a hammer and punch to remove the pin that holds belt tightener shaft (14) in bracket (13). 11. Use a press and push shaft (14) out of bracket (13) as shown. The following steps are for the assembly of the fan drive.12. Put the dowel hole in shaft (14) in alignment with the dowel hole in fan drive bracket (13). Use a press and install shaft (14) in bracket (13).2. Install the pin to hold shaft (14) in bracket (13). 3. Use a press and push shaft (12) in bracket (13) from the back until the shoulder on shaft (12) is against the bracket.4. Install bearing (9) in hub (4). 5. Install dust seal (8) in hub (4) over bearing (9). Make sure the lip of the seal is toward the outside as shown.6. Put pulley (5) in position on hub (4) and install the bolts to hold the unit together.7. Put clean grease on the lip of the seal in the hub. Install spacer (7) on the fan drive bracket with the chamfer toward pulley (5).8. Install pulley (5) and the hub on the fan drive bracket.9. Install spacer (10) over the shaft in hub (4).10. Install bearing (11) over the shaft in hub (4).11. Install the O-ring seal on hub (4) and put clean grease on the seal.12. Put 9S3263 Thread Lock on the threads of the bolt. Install bolt (2) and washer (1) to hold the fan drive together. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 212 12 N m (155 10 lb.ft.).End By:a. install fan drive
