Information:
Introduction
This Special Instruction provides coolant drain and vacuum fill procedure for certain C27 and C32 Tier 4 Machine Engines.Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you have read the information and you understand the information.Important Safety Information
Work safely. Most accidents that involve product operation, maintenance, and repair are caused by failure to observe basic safety rules or precautions. An accident can often be avoided by recognizing potentially hazardous situations before an accident occurs.A person must be alert to potential hazards. This person should also have the necessary training, skills, and tools to perform these functions properly.Safety precautions and warnings are provided in this instruction and on the product. If these hazard warnings are not heeded, bodily injury or death could occur to you or to other persons. Caterpillar cannot anticipate every possible circumstance that might involve a potential hazard.Ensure that the product will not be damaged or the product will not be made unsafe by the operation, lubrication, maintenance, or repair procedures used.Ground the equipment. Improper grounding will result in electrical current paths that are uncontrolled and unreliable. Uncontrolled electrical circuit paths can result in damage to the equipment. Uncontrolled electrical circuit paths can also cause electrical activity that may degrade the electronics and communications. Ensure that all grounds are secure and free of corrosion.
Failure to follow all safety guidelines prescribed in this document and by governing authorities and regulatory agencies may result in severe injury or death of personnel or machine damage.
Do not operate or work on this machine unless you have read and understand the instructions and warnings in the Operation and Maintenance Manual. Failure to follow the instructions or heed the warnings could result in injury or death. Contact any Caterpillar dealer for replacement manuals. Proper care is your responsibility.
Accidental engine starting can cause injury or death to personnel working on the equipment. To avoid accidental engine starting, disconnect the battery cable from the negative (−) battery terminal. Completely tape all metal surfaces of the disconnected battery cable end in order to prevent contact with other metal surfaces which could activate the engine electrical system.Place a Do Not Operate tag at the Start/Stop switch location to inform personnel that the equipment is being worked on.
Personal injury or death can occur from heavy components falling during removal or installation.Properly support the component with a suitable lifting device during removal or installation.
Only persons with training in electrical installations must carry connections to the generator. The generator must be wired correctly. A fire or electrocution could result from wiring that is incorrect. The generator is capable of generating high voltages. Ensure that the generator is not on while the connections are being made. Follow these steps in order to prevent accidental starting:
Isolate the machine from all external loads and sources.
Shut off the Engine.
Disconnect the battery supply lines and tape the leads.

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Personal injury can result from hot coolant, steam and alkali. At operating temperature, engine coolant is hot and under pressure. The radiator and all lines to heaters or the engine contain hot coolant or steam. Any contact can cause severe burns.Remove filler cap slowly to relieve pressure only when engine is stopped and
