2. Remove two braces (1).3. Disconnect two clips (2).4. Disconnect water temperature sending unit (3).5. Remove water temperature regulator. See the topic Remove Water Temperature Regulator in this module.6. Put identification marks on two hoses (5), disconnect and move them out of the way.7. Loosen clamp (6). Remove four bolts (4) and water line (7). 8. Disconnect line (8) from fitting (9).9. Remove two bolts (10). 10. Remove bolts (11) that hold the cylinder head to the block.11. Remove two mounting brackets (12).12. Attach a hoist to the cylinder head and remove the cylinder head and the exhaust manifold as a unit. The weight of the unit is approximately 180 kg (396 lb.).13. Remove the exhaust manifold from the cylinder head. See the topic, Remove Exhaust Manifold in this module.14. Remove the fuel injection nozzles. See the topic, Remove Fuel Injection Nozzles in this module.15. Remove the spacer plate. See the topic Remove Spacer Plate in this module.Install Cylinder Head Assembly
1. Install the spacer plate. See the topic, Install Spacer Plate in this module.2. Install the exhaust manifold. See the topic, Install Exhaust Manifold in this module.3. Install fuel injection nozzles. See the topic, Install Fuel Injection Nozzles in this module. 4. Attach a hoist to the cylinder head assembly. Put the cylinder head assembly in position on the engine.5. Install two mounting brackets (12).6. Put 2P2506 Thread Lubricant on all cylinder head bolts (11) and install them until they are finger tight.
Typical Example7. Install push rods (15). Make sure they are installed in their original locations. Be sure the push rods are in position in the valve lifters.8. Loosen the adjusting screws on the rocker arms for valve clearance. This will prevent a bent valve or push rod during installation of the rocker shaft assembly.9. Install a new O-ring seal in the rear rocker arm support bracket.10. Put 2P2506 Thread Lubricant on all of the rocker shaft bolts except the one that goes through the rear rocker arm support bracket.11. Put the rocker shaft assembly in position on the cylinder head assembly. Make sure the dowels in the support brackets are in the dowel holes in the cylinder head assembly and the rocker arms are engaged with the push rods. Install the bolts that hold the rocker shaft assembly until they are finger tight. 12. Hand tighten the large size cylinder head and rocker shaft bolts in the numbered sequence shown as follows:a. Tighten the bolts in the numbered sequence to a torque of 156 N m (115 lb ft).b. Tighten the bolts in the numbered sequence to a torque of 250 17 N m (185 13 lb ft).c. Tighten the bolts in the numbered sequence again to a torque of 250 17 N m (185 13 lb ft).13. Hand tighten the small size cylinder head bolts, in the lettered sequence shown to a torque of 43 7 N m (32 5 lb ft).14. The assembled length of springs (14) at both ends of the rocker shaft assembly must be 1.50 0.25 mm (.059 .010 in.). Remove or install the washers behind the springs to obtain the correct assembled length of the springs.15. Make an adjustment to the valves until the intake valve clearance is 0.38 mm (.015 in.) and the exhaust valve clearance is 0.64 mm (.025 in.). Tighten the nuts on adjustment screws (12) to a torque of 29 7 N m (21 5 lb ft). For the complete valve adjustment procedure, see Valve Clearance in Testing And Adjusting. 16. Install two bolts (10). 17. Attach line (8) to fitting (9).18. Install the gasket between air line (16) and the cylinder head.19. Install air line (16) with seven bolts (17).
Typical Example20. Install the gaskets that go between water line (7) and the water pump and between the water line and the cylinder head.21. Install water line (7) with four bolts (4).22. Position clamp (6) and tighten.23. Attach two water lines (5) and tighten the clamps.24. Connect water temperature sending unit (3) to the cylinder head.25. Install the water temperature regulator.
