1. Remove four bolts and cover (1) from the support. 2. Remove the bolts, and disconnect rod ends (2) from the levers. 3. Remove the bolts and governor control and decelerator group (3). The following steps are for installation of the governor control and decelerator group.4. Put governor control and decelerator group (3) in position, and install the bolts that hold it in place.5. Connect two rod ends (2) to the levers.6. Put cover (1) in position on the support, and install the bolts that hold it.7. Adjust the high and low idle stops. See Specifications.Disassemble Governor Control And Decelerator Group
Start By:a. remove governor control and decelerator group 1. Loosen bolt (2), and remove lever (1). Remove the key from the shaft. 2. Remove housing (5) and the washer from cover assembly (4).3. Remove four bolts (6). Remove cover assembly (4), plate (3) and two gaskets from the support. 4. Remove rollers (8) and springs (7) from the plate assembly. 5. Remove plate assembly (10) from cover assembly (4).6. Remove spring (9) from the shaft assembly. 7. Remove shaft assembly (12) and spring (11) from cover assembly (4). 8. Loosen bolt (14), and remove lever (13) from the shaft assembly.9. Remove the key from the shaft assembly. 10. Remove the cotter pin and pin (17), and disconnect bar (16) from pedal (15). 11. Remove bolt (19) and lever (18).12. Remove the key from shaft assembly (20). Remove the shaft assembly from the support. 13. Loosen bolt (21). Remove shaft (22) and pedal (15) from the support. 14. Loosen bolt (23), and remove pedal (24) from the shaft. 15. Loosen bolt (28). Slide shaft (25) out of lever (27). Remove key (26) from shaft (25). Remove the shaft and lever (27) from the support. 16. If necessary, remove bearings (30) and seals (31) from support (29).Assemble Governor Control And Declerator Group
To prevent damage to the bearings when they are installed, drive only on the stamped end of the bearing.
1. If bearings (1) were removed, use tool (A) and install the bearings in the support until they are 5 mm (.20 in) below the surface of support (3).2. If seals (2) were removed, use tool (A) and install the seals on each side of bearings. Install the seals with the lip of the seals facing away from bearings (1).3. Fill the bearings and the area between the seals with 5P0960 Multipurpose Grease. 4. Put shaft (4) in position in the first bearing. Install key (5) in the shaft.5. Put lever (6) in position. Push shaft (4) through the lever and into the support.6. Tighten bolt (7) to hold the lever in position on the shaft. 7. Align the mark on the end of the shaft with the centerline of the slot in pedal (9). Install the pedal on the shaft until there is 2.0 1.0 mm (.08 .04 in) between the pedal and the support.8. Tighten bolt (8). 9. Put a washer in position on each side of the support, and install shaft (11).10. Install pedal (12) on the shaft, and tighten bolt (10) to hold it in place. 11. Put shaft assembly (16) in position in the support. Install key (14) in the shaft.12. Put lever (13) and the bar in position on the shaft assembly, and install bolt (15). Do not tighten the bolt at this time. 13. Put bar (17) in position on pedal (12). Install pin (18) and the cotter pin to hold the bar in place.14. Tighten bolt (15). 15. Install the key in shaft assembly (16). Put lever (19) in position on the shaft assembly, and tighten bolt (20). Spring (21) must be installed with the concave side of the spring toward shaft assembly (22).16. Put spring (21) and shaft assembly (22) in position in cover assembly (23). Put clean SAE 10W oil on all parts of the detent assembly before assembly.17. Install spring (24) in the slot in shaft assembly (22).18. Align the slot in plate assembly (25) with spring (24), and install the plate assembly. 19. Put springs (26) in position in plate assembly (25). Compress the springs, and install rollers (27). 20. Put a gasket on each side of plate (28). Put the plate in position on the support.21. Align the plate assembly in cover assembly (23) with the shaft assembly in the support, and install the cover assembly.22. Install four bolts (30) to hold the cover assembly in place.23. Install the washers and housing (29) in cover assembly (23). 24. Install the key in shaft assembly (22). Put lever (31) in position on the shaft assembly, and tighten nut (32).End By:a. install governor control and decelerator group
