1. Remove filter assembly (5) with tool (A).2. Disconnect oil line (1).3. Remove six bolts (3) that hold the oil filter base to the cylinder block and four bolts (2) that hold the oil filter base to the oil cooler.4. Remove oil filter base (4).5. Remove the O-ring seals from the oil filter base.Install Oil Filter Base (Industrial Engine)
1. Put the four O-ring seals in position in oil filter base (3), and put the oil filter base in position on the cylinder block and oil cooler.2. Install four bolts (2) that hold the oil filter base to the oil cooler and six bolts (4) that hold the oil filter base to the cylinder block.3. Connect oil line (1) to the oil filter base.4. Put clean oil on the gasket for filter assembly (5), and install the filter assembly.5. Tighten the filter assembly 3/4 of a turn after the gasket makes contact with the oil filter base.Disassemble Oil Filter Base (Industrial Engine)
START BY:a. remove oil filter base Spring force is present behind covers (1).1. Remove the bolts and covers (1) from the oil filter base. 2. Remove springs (2) and valves (3) from the oil filter base. 3. If necessary, remove stud (4) from the oil filter base.Assemble Oil Filter Base (Industrial Engine)
1. Use 9S3263 Thread Lock on stud (1) 7.62 mm (.30 in.) from the taperlock end.2. Install stud (1) in oil filter base. Tighten the stud to a torque of 80 14 N m (60 10 lb.ft.). 3. Remove the bolts that hold oil filter base (2) to the cylinder block, and move the oil filter base and tube (4) as an assembly.Install Oil Filter Base (Marine Engine)
1. Put oil filter base (2) and tube (3) in position on the cylinder block as an assembly, and install four bolts (1) to hold the oil filter base to the cylinder block.2. Put the O-ring seal in position in tube (3), and install the two bolts that hold the tube to the cylinder block. 3. Put the gasket and tube (4) in position on oil filter base (2), and install the bolts that hold the tube in place.4. Put clean oil on the gasket on filter assembly (5), and install the filter assembly on the oil filter base. Tighten the filter assembly 3/4 of a turn after the gasket makes contact with the oil filter base.Disassemble Oil Filter Base (Marine Engine)
START BY:a. remove oil filter base (marine engine) 1. Remove tube (3) from oil filter base (1).2. Remove the O-ring seals from tube (3).3. Remove stud (2) from the oil filter base. 4. Remove the cover that holds spring (4) and plunger (5) in the oil filter base.5. Remove the spring and plunger from oil filter base (1).Assemble Oil Filter Base (Marine Engine)
1. Put plunger (2) and spring (1) in position in oil filter base (3), and install the gasket and cover. 2. Put 9S3263 Thread Lock on the tapered threads of stud (4), and install the stud in oil filter base (3). Tighten the stud to a torque of 83 13 N m (62 10 lb.ft.).3. Put O-ring seal (5) on tube (6), and install the tube in the oil filter base.END BY:a. install oil filter base (marine engine)Remove And Install Oil Cooler (Industrial Engine)
1. Drain the coolant from the engine.2. Drain the oil from the oil cooler. 3. Remove bolts (1), (3) and (4) that holds oil cooler (2) to the engine, and remove the oil cooler and bonnets as an assembly. Put marks on the oil cooler and bonnets to aid in assembly.4. Remove bonnet (5) from the oil cooler (2), and remove the O-ring seal from the bonnet.5. Remove bonnet (7) and adapter (6) from oil cooler (2), and remove the O-ring seals from the adapter.6. Use a 3.175 mm (.125 in.) diameter rod to clean each tube of the oil cooler. The following steps are for installation of the oil cooler.7. Replace any O-ring seals that are damaged or worn, and put clean engine oil on them.8. Put the O-ring seals on adapter (6), and install the adapter and bonnet on oil cooler (2).9. Install the O-ring seal on bonnet (5), and install the bonnet on the oil cooler.10. Put the O-ring seals in position on the oil filter base.11. Put new gaskets in position on the engine, water pump and the tube, and install oil cooler (2) on the oil filter base.12. Install bolts (1), (3) and (4).13. Check the oil level in the engine. See the Maintenance Guide.14. Fill the cooling system to the correct level. See the Maintenance Guide.Remove Oil Cooler (Marine Engine)
1. Drain the coolant from the engine. 2. Remove the bolts that hold tube (1) to the oil filter base and bypass valve body, and remove the tube.3. Remove clip (3) and bolts (2), and remove bonnet (4) and the adapter as an assembly. 4. Remove adapter (5) from bonnet (4), and remove the O-ring seals from the adapter. 5. Remove clip (8).6. Remove the bolts that hold elbow (6) and bypass valve body (7) to the cylinder block, and remove them as an assembly with oil cooler (9).7. Remove the bolts that hold elbow (6) and bypass valve body (7) to the oil cooler, and remove the elbow and the bypass valve body.8. Use a 3.175 mm (.125 in.) diameter rod to clean each tube of the oil cooler. Spring force is present behind cover (10).9. Remove cover (10).10. Remove spring (11) and the plunger from bypass valve body (7).
