P1 ECM connector (throttle lock mode switch)Test Step 1. Inspect Electrical Connectors and Wiring
Turn the keyswitch to the OFF/RESET position.
Thoroughly inspect the J1/P1 ECM connector, the J61/P61 machine connector, the throttle lock mode switch, the throttle speed set switch, any other connectors in the circuit, and the associated wiring. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Electrical Connectors - Inspect" for details.Expected Result:All connectors, pins, and sockets should be completely inserted and coupled. The harness and wiring should be free of corrosion, abrasion, and pinch points. Results:
OK - Proceed to Test Step 2.
Not OK - Repair: Repair the circuit.Verify that the repair eliminates the problem.STOPTest Step 2. Check the Status of the Throttle Speed Set Switch on the Electronic Service Tool
Connect the electronic service tool to the service tool connector and turn the keyswitch to the ON position.
Observe the status of "Throttle Lock Set/Accel Switch Position" and "Throttle Lock Resume/Decel Switch Position" on the electronic service tool.Note: The status should be "Off".
Hold the throttle speed set switch in the SET/ACCEL position and observe the status of "Throttle Lock Set/Accel Switch Position" on the electronic service tool.Note: The status should be "On".
Hold the throttle speed set switch in the RESUME/DECEL position and observe the status of "Throttle Lock Resume/Decel Switch Position" on the electronic service tool.Note: The status should be "On".Expected Result:The status should change accordingly as you change switch positions. Results:
OK - The throttle speed set switch is operating correctly. Proceed to Test Step 5.
