Information:
Powerup Test
Pre-Powerup Test
Visually inspect all of the wiring for loose connections or incorrect connections.
Verify the power supply's polarity. Connect the red lead of the multimeter to terminal "1" and connect the black lead to terminal "2". The voltage should read +24 DCV.
Measure the resistance from terminal "2" to the following terminals within the ECP: "1A", "1B" and "1C". All of the measurements should be at least 30 Ohms.Powerup Test
The Engine Control Switch should be in the OFF/RESET position. The Fuel Control Switch should be in the OFF position. The Prelube/Start Switch should be in the RUN position.
Open all the circuit breakers.
Close circuit breaker 1. The following circuits should power up: relay logic and tachometer.
Close circuit breaker 2. The following circuits should power up: remote start, gauge (starting air) and electronic governor.
Close circuit breaker 3 (if equipped). The annunciator should power up.
Check the resistance between the following terminals:
"64B" and "64C" (Horn Operation)
"367B" and "367C" (Shutdown)
"368B" and "368C" (Alarm)
"369B" and "369C" ("Local/Remote" Mode)
"370B" and "370C" (Engine Running Output)
"371B" and "371C" (Emergency Shutdown)All of the measurements should be less than 5 Ohms.Prelube Test
Note: This test is only for intermittent prelube.
Turn the Engine Control Switch to the LOCAL position.
Temporarily disconnect the wiring to the prelube pump. The wires should be disconnected from terminals "73" and "2".
Turn the Prelube/Start Switch to the PRELUBE position.
Ensure that there is +24 DCV between terminals "73" and "2".
Connect a jumper wire between terminals "67" and "2" in the junction box. The prelube light should illuminate.
Turn the prelube switch to the "Off" position.
Reconnect the wires from Step 2 and remove the jumper from Step 5.
Turn the Prelube/Start switch to the "Prelube" position.
The prelube pump should run, if air is supplied to the pump.Test for the Local Emergency Stop
Push the "E-Stop" button on the control panel.
Ensure that the shutdown relay is energized.
Check the voltage from terminal "85" to terminal "2". The voltage should be 24 VDC. The check is made in order to verify that the air shutoff solenoid has been energized.
Check the voltage from terminal "82" to terminal "2". The voltage should be 24 VDC for "ETS" systems and the voltage should be 0 VDC for "ETR" systems. The check is made in order to verify that the fuel shutoff solenoid has been energized.
Turn the Engine Control Switch to the OFF/RESET position. Release the "E-Stop". The shutdown relay should de-energize.Test for the Remote Emergency Stop
Push the "E-Stop" button at the remote location.
The shutdown relay should de-energize.Test for the Jacket Water Detector Alarm
Connect a jumper wire between terminals "1A" and "90".
Turn the Engine Control Switch to the LOCAL position. Turn the Prelube/Start Switch to the RUN position. Turn the Fuel Control Switch to the ON position.
Connect a jumper wire between terminals "66" and "2" in the junction box. The relay for the jacket water detector ("JWDSR") should energize.
Ensure that the alarm relay is energized for minimum systems or ensure that the shutdown relay is energized for complete systems and maximum systems.
Turn the FCS to the OFF position. Turn the ECS to the OFF/RESET position.
Remove the jumper wire. The relay should de-energize.Thermocouples
Place the Engine Control Switch in the "LOCAL" position.
Verify that there are no failures in the thermocouples on the display of the pyrometer. Valid temperatures should be displayed for each exhaust port.
Disconnect the thermocouples one at a time. Verify that this creates a failure for the appropriate sensor. This verifies that the proper thermocouple is wired to the corresponding terminal block.
If any problems occur with the thermocouples, check all the wiring from the ECP to the sensor. This check will find the majority of the problems that would exist. The most common problem is the interchanging of leads.Use the following checklist in order to check each thermocouple:
