(1) Remove the engine from the machine; see the Service Manual for the procedure. Put both engines, new and old, in a position that will give good access to their front, rear, top and both sides. For those engines that were equipped with glow plugs, either remove the wire from the heat-start switch to the glow plug lead assembly, or put tape over the end of the wire when it is disconnected. This wire will not be needed because the new engine does not have glow plugs.(2) From the old engine, remove the crankshaft pulley and hub, engine front support, the rear supports (from the sides of the flywheel housing) and the flywheel. Install these parts on the new replacement engine.(3) Remove the oil level gauge and guide from the old engine and exchange it with the one on the new engine. (The new engine must use the same part number oil level gauge and guide that was used with the old engine). (4) Remove transmission oil cooler (1), pipe (2) and oil filter base (3) from the original engine. Remove the similar parts (water elbow, engine oil cooler and engine oil filter base) from the new engine arrangement. Exchange these parts between the engines.(5) Exchange the lubrication oil filler tube of the two engines. Remove the water pump from each engine and exchange them also. (6) Remove exhaust elbow (4), air inlet pipe (5), regulator housing (6) and regulator (7) from the original engine, and exchange these parts with the similar parts from the new engine. (7) Remove fumes disposal group (8) from the original engine and install it on the new engine.(8) Other parts that must be removed from the original engine and installed on the new engine are as follows: air cleaner, muffler and muffler mounting group, fan, fan drive and pulley, alternator and vee belts, and the electric starting motor.(9) Install the new engine in the machine. See the Service Manual for engine installation procedure. It is probable that it will be necessary to do some reconditioning to the governor linkage to fit this application. Before the engine is started it will be necessary to check, and make an adjustment to the fuel setting of the engine. See the FUEL SETTING INFORMATION for the correct fuel setting dimension.951C 86J2598-up
