start by:a) remove cylinder headsb) remove oil pump1. Remove the carbon from the top inner surface of the cylinder liners.2. Turn the crankshaft until the connecting rod bearing cap is at bottom center.3. Remove the bolts from the connecting rod cap. Remove the cap.4. Push the piston and rod up until the piston rings are above the cylinder liner.5. Remove piston (1) and connecting rod.6. Do Steps 2 through 5 for remainder of the pistons. Keep the rod and rod cap together for installation purpose.Install Pistons
1. Put clean engine oil on crankshaft bearing journals, inside of cylinder liner, piston rings and connecting rod bearings. The connecting rods have identification "EVEN" and "ODD". The rods with the identification "EVEN" are installed on the left side of the engine. The rods with the identification "ODD" are installed on the right side of the engine (as viewed from the flywheel end of the engine).
Never install the ring compressor on piston without the liner as a guide, or damage to the piston rings can be the result.
2. Put tool (A) in position on the cylinder liner. Put the piston and connecting rod in position on the cylinder liner.
