A 1U-9200 Lever Puller 1 Note: This procedure is intended for raising the hinged bottom guards. The complete installation of the hinged bottom guards must be done with the use of a suitable floor jack. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bottom Guard - Install" for the procedure to install the hinged bottom guards. Fully read this procedure and fully understand this procedure before proceeding with the work.Note: Use caution around potential pinch points. Be alert for possible movement of the guards.Note: Do not place any part of your body under the bottom guard unless the mounting nuts are installed.Note: Inspect the suitable lifting device and all suitable restraining devices prior to installation for proper condition and proper operation.Note: When the suitable restraining device is secured to the machine, ensure that there is no interference that is caused by dirt or debris that could cause the inadvertent movement of the bottom guard as weight is applied.
Illustration 1 g02044415Note: Refer to the arrows in Illustration 1 for the approximate location for attaching the suitable restraining devices and lifting devices to the machine. The suitable restraining devices and the lifting devices must be centered in the fore and aft direction on the bottom guards.Note: Ensure that all hinge pins, cotter pins, and washers are in place in the bottom guard. Do not remove any of these parts. Inspect both halves of the hinges. Make sure that both halves of the hinges are properly attached to the bottom guard and the tractor frame. If any cracks are observed on the hinges or the hinge welds, make suitable repairs prior to raising the bottom guard.Note: Refer to Table 2 below for the weights of each of the bottom guards. Bottom guards may contain a significant amount of rock, dirt, liquids and debris, which will result in significant additional weight.
Table 2
Guard 1 (Front) 343 kg (755 lb)
Guard 2 (Front Center) 278 kg (612 lb)
Guard 3 (Rear Center) 285 kg (627 lb)
Guard 4 (Rear) 270 kg (594 lb)
Illustration 2 g01717219
Attach the suitable restraining device (1) to the side of the machine on the hinged side of the bottom guard. Attach Tooling (A) or a suitable lifting device to the other side of the machine. Acceptable locations include the track or the bulldozer push arm. An external hoist is an acceptable alternative to Tooling (A) but care must be taken in order to avoid fouling the hook on a corner of the tractor. If a pusher bolt was used to open the bottom guard, remove the pusher bolt. Attach the suitable restraining device (1) onto Tooling (A) and pull tightly in order to firmly secure the bottom guard (2) into the correct position. Make sure that the bolts go through the holes in the guard.

Typical Example
Install the washers and nuts (3) that secure bottom guard (2) to tractor frame (4). Install the washers and nuts (3) that are closest to you first. Install the washers and the nuts that are farthest away from you last in order to prevent the need to reach across the loosened guard. Make sure that all of nuts (3) have been tightened before removing the restraining device.
Illustration 4 g02047235Note: In order to fasten the front bottom guard, the washers and six bolts (5) and the washers and four bolts (6) need to be installed.
