Schematic
Test Step 1. Inspect the Throttle Lock Lamp Bulb
Turn the keyswitch to the OFF/RESET position.
Remove the bulb and inspect the bulb. Expected Result:The bulb should be free from damage. The filament should be free from damage. Results:
OK - Proceed to Test Step 2.
Not OK - Repair: Replace the bulb.Verify that the repair eliminates the problem.STOPTest Step 2. Inspect Electrical Connectors and Wiring
Turn the keyswitch to the OFF/RESET position.
Thoroughly inspect ECM connector J1/P1, machine connector J3/P3, and all other connectors in the wiring harness. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Electrical Connectors - Inspect" for details.
Check the harness and wiring for corrosion, abrasion, and pinch points from the throttle switch to the ECM. Expected Result:All connectors, pins, and sockets should be completely inserted and coupled. The harness and wiring should be free of corrosion, abrasion, and pinch points. Results:
OK - Proceed to Test Step 3.
Not OK - Repair: Repair the circuit.Verify that the repair eliminates the problem.STOPTest Step 3. Test the Throttle Lock Lamp Circuit
Turn the keyswitch to the ON position. Note: In order to test the ECM circuit, the throttle lock lamp will illuminate for 5 seconds after the keyswitch has been turned to the ON position.
Start the engine.
Observe the throttle lock lamp.
Enable the throttle lock feature by switching the throttle lock enable switch to the ON position. Note: The throttle lock feature will not activate until the right hand brake pedal is released.
Observe the throttle lock lamp. Expected Result:The throttle lock lamp should not be illuminated when the throttle lock enable switch is in the OFF position. The throttle lock lamp should illuminate when the throttle lock enable switch is in the ON position. Results:
OK - The throttle lock lamp is operating correctly.STOP
Not OK - Proceed to Test Step 4.Test Step 4. Check for Active Diagnostic Codes
Connect ET at the service tool connector.
Turn the keyswitch to the ON position.
Observe the diagnostic codes on ET. Expected Result:The following diagnostic code should not be active:
298-02 "Incorrect Service Brake Pedal Switch inputs"Results:
OK - The diagnostic code is not active. Proceed to Test Step 5.
Not OK - The diagnostic code is active. If there are incorrect service brake pedal switch inputs, the throttle lock feature will be disabled by the ECM.Repair: Further troubleshooting is required. Refer to Troubleshooting, "CID 298 FMI 02 Incorrect Service Brake Pedal Switch inputs" for more information.STOPTest Step 5. Check the Status on ET.
Turn the keyswitch to the ON position.
Operate the throttle lock enable switch.
Observe the status of the throttle lock enable switch on ET.
Operate the right hand brake pedal.
Observe the status of the service brake pedal switch on ET. Expected Result:The status of the throttle lock enable switch should be displayed correctly on ET, and the status of the service brake pedal switch should be displayed correctly on ET.Results:
OK - The ECM is receiving correct input from both the throttle lock enable switch and the service brake pedal switch. The ECM is not illuminating the throttle lock lamp properly. Proceed to Test Step 6.
Not OK - There is a problem with the throttle lock enable switch and/or the service brake pedal switch.Repair: Replace the suspect switch. Refer to Electrical Schematic for more information.Verify that the repair eliminates the problem.STOPTest Step 6. Check for Harness Short to Ground

ECM connector P1
Turn the keyswitch to the OFF/RESET position.
Disconnect ECM connector J1/P1.
Remove the throttle lock lamp bulb from the socket.
Measure the resistance between P1:27 (Throttle Lock Lamp) and the following terminals:
P1:5 (Ground)
P1:29 (Digital Sensor Return)
P1:30 (Analog Sensor Return)Expected Result:Resistance should be greater than 20,000 for each reading. Results:
OK - The circuit is not shorted to ground. Proceed to Test Step 7.
Not OK - The circuit is shorted to ground.Repair: Wire F706-PU(Purple) (Throttle Lock Lamp) is shorted to ground through one of the following wires in the harness:
P1:5 (Ground)
P1:29 (Digital Sensor Return)
P1:30 (Analog Sensor Return)Repair the circuit. Refer to Electrical Schematic for more information.Verify that the repair eliminates the problem.STOPTest Step 7. Check the Harness for a Short to Power

ECM connector P1
Turn the keyswitch to the OFF/RESET position.
Ensure that the ECM connector J1/P1 is disconnected.
Ensure that the throttle lock lamp bulb is removed from the socket.
Measure the resistance between P1:27 (Throttle Lock Lamp) and the following terminals:
P1:6 (ECM Supply (Key On))
P1:4 (ECM Supply (Key Off))
P1:36 (Analog Sensor Supply)
P1:35 (Digital Sensor Supply)Expected Result:Resistance should be greater than 20,000 for each reading. Results:
OK - The circuit is not shorted to power. Proceed to Test Step 8.
Not OK - The circuit is shorted to power.Repair: Wire F706-PU(Purple) (Throttle Lock Lamp) is shorted to power through one of the following wires in the harness:
P1:6 (ECM Supply (Key On))
P1:4 (ECM Supply (Key Off))
P1:36 (Analog Sensor Supply)
P1:35 (Digital Sensor Supply)Repair the circuit. Refer to Electrical Schematic for more information.Verify that the repair eliminates the problem.STOPTest Step 8. Check the Resistance through the Harness
Turn the keyswitch to the OFF/RESET position.
Disconnect ECM connector J1/P1.
Ensure that the throttle lock lamp bulb is installed.
Measure the resistance between P1:27 (Throttle Lock Lamp) and 113-OR(Orange) (+Battery) at the lamp socket. Expected Result:The resistance through the wires and the bulb should be less than 25 Ohms. Results:
OK - The ECM may not be providing a proper ground path for the throttle lock lamp. Proceed to Test Step 9.
Not OK - There is an ope
