Information:

2. Loosen clamp (1), then remove heater hose (2). Loosen two clamps (3) and slide hose (4) down on water hose to radiator. 3. Remove four bolts (6) to remove elbow (5). Remove gaskets from the elbow. 4. Remove three bolts (7) to remove water pump cover (8). 5. Remove three of the four nuts (9) that hold water pump to the timing gear cover. 6. Remove three bolts (10) from the fan drive support block (11). Remove the support block. Remove remainder of nuts (9) that hold water pump to timing gear cover. 7. Remove bolt (13) that holds water pump to the timing gear cover. Remove the four bolts (12) that hold the water pump to oil cooler bonnet. Remove water pump (14). Remove gasket from the oil cooler bonnet.Install Water Pump
1. Install a new gasket on the oil cooler bonnet if necessary. Put a small amount of clean engine oil on seal on the block side of the water pump. Install water pump (1) on oil cooler bonnet with the four bolts that hold it. Install the one bolt that holds the water pump to the timing gear cover. 2. Install four nuts (4) that hold water pump to timing gear cover.3. Install fan drive support block (3) on timing gear cover with bolt (2). Install two bolts that hold the support block to fan drive support. 4. Put a small amount of oil on the seal on the pump face. Install water pump cover (5) with the three bolts that hold it. 5. Install new gaskets on elbow, then install elbow (6) with the bolts that hold it. 6. Install heater hose (8) and tighten clamp (7). Slide water hose (10) on to the water pump cover and tighten clamps (9).7. Put elbow (11) in position on back of water pump cover and install the two bolts that hold it.8. Fill the cooling system with coolant to its correct level. See LUBRICATION AND MAINTENANCE GUIDE.Disassemble Water Pump
start by:a) remove water pump 1. Remove O-ring seal (1) from adapter (2).2. Remove adapter (2) with a screwdriver. Remove the seal from the edge of adapter (2).3. Remove bolt (3) and washer. 4. Remove impeller (4) from the water pump housing with tooling (A). 5. Remove seal assembly (5). Remove ring and seal (6). 6. Remove the bolt and washer that hold gear (7) on the water pump shaft.7. Remove gear (7) with tooling (B).8. Remove bolts and retainer (9).9. Remove O-ring seal (8).10. Remove shaft (10) and bearings as a unit. 11. Remove bearing (11), spacer (12) and bearing (13) from shaft (10).12. Remove lip type seal from the gear side of the water pump. Remove ring and seal from the impeller side of the water pump.Assemble Water Pump
1. Put clean engine oil or glycerine on the lip of seal (1). Install seal (1) as shown with tooling (A). 2. Install bearing (4), spacer (3) and bearing (5) on shaft (2). Install shaft (2) in the pump housing. 3. Install retainer (7) and O-ring seal (8).4. Install gear (6). Install washer and bolt that hold gear (6) to shaft (2). 5. Put clean water on seal (9). Install seal (9) and ring (10) together in the housing bore with the shiny face of ring (10) toward the outside. 6. Remove spring (11) from seal (12). Put clean water on the inside of seal (12). Push the seal on the shaft until the carbon face makes contact with the shiny face of ring (10). Install spring (11). 7. Install impeller (14) and the washer and nut (13) that hold the impeller to the pump shaft.8. Tighten nut (13) to a torque of 28 2 lb.ft. (39 3 N m). Make an air pressure test of the seal at 20 psi (140 kPa). 9. Put clean engine oil or glycerine on O-ring seals (15). Install the O-ring seals on adapter (16).10. Install adapter (16) in the pump housing with the notch in alignment with dowel (17).end by:a) install water pump
