Information:

Improper lift rigging can allow unit to tumble causing injury and damage.

Never bend the eyebolts and the brackets. Only load the eyebolts and the brackets under tension. Remember that the capacity of an eyebolt is less as the angle between the supporting members and the object becomes less than 90 degrees. When it is necessary to remove a component at an angle, only use a link bracket that is properly rated for the weight.
Use a hoist to remove heavy components. Use an adjustable lifting beam to lift the engine. All supporting members (chains and cables) should be parallel to each other. The chains and cables should be perpendicular to the top of the object that is being lifted. Some removals require lifting fixtures to obtain proper balance. Lifting fixtures also help to provide safety. To remove the engine ONLY, use the lifting eyes that are on the engine.Lifting eyes are designed and installed for the specific engine arrangement. Alterations to the lifting eyes and/or the engine make the lifting eyes and the lifting fixtures obsolete. If alterations are made, ensure that proper lifting devices are provided. Consult your Cat dealer for information regarding fixtures for proper engine lifting.

Do not use the eyebolts that are on the marine transmission housing to lift the engine.
To remove both the engine and the marine transmission, use the lifting eyes that are on the engine. Use an adjustable lifting beam to lift the engine. All supporting members (chains and cables) should be parallel to each other. The chains and cables should be perpendicular to the top of the object that is being lifted. Consult your Cat dealer or consult the OEM for information regarding fixtures for proper lifting of your complete package.Marine Transmission Lifting
To remove the marine transmission ONLY, use the eyebolts that are on the marine transmission housing. Refer to the OEM for proper lifting instructions (if equipped). If a component resists removal, ensure that all the nuts and bolts have been removed. Ensure that no adjacent parts are interfering.Aftertreatment Component Lifting
Improper lift rigging can allow unit to tumble causing injury and damage.
Refer to the Application and Installation Guide for additional information on lifting aftertreatment components.Note: After the CEM has been installed, remove the lifting eyes and store separately. The thermal cycling associated with exhaust systems may damage lifting devices.Attach appropriate lifting equipment to the lifting eyes at each corner of the CEM. Ensure that lifting equipment is clear of all sensors and fittings prior to lifting. Do not use reactor housing mounting feet to lift the CEM.Depending on the installation configuration of your CEM, the lifting links may be installed in alternative locations. Spreader bars may be required for certain lifting configurations. If necessary, the inlet and outlet spool may be removed to allow clearance to the lifting links. Consult your Cat dealer for detailed procedures.Do not lift the CEM with a fork lift after the CEM has been removed from the original shipping pallet.Lifting the CEM
Prior to lifting the CEM, determine the size and weight of the CEM. Refer to table 3.
