832942A 1 Mariner COUPLING ASSEMBLY

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Drain" for more information.

Loosen hose clamp (2) and disconnect hose assembly (1) from water pump (3).
Loosen hose clamp (4) and hose clamp (6) (not shown). Disconnect hose assembly (5) from water pump (3) and the connection on the thermostat housing.
Loosen hose clamp (11) and disconnect hose assembly (12) from water pump (3).
Remove bolt (7) and bolt and washer (9) from adjuster bracket (8).
Remove adjuster bracket (8) from alternator (10).

Cut cable strap (15) and cable strap (19) for harness assembly (14).
Remove bolts (16) from bracket (18). Remove the bracket from water pump (3).
Remove bolts (17) and nut (22) from water pump (3).
Remove water pump (3) from the cylinder block. Note: If necessary, gently tap the water pump with a soft faced hammer in order to loosen the water pump.
Remove gasket (21) (not shown).
If necessary, remove connection (13) from water pump (3).
If necessary, remove stud (20) from the cylinder block. Note position of the stud for installation purposes. Installation Procedure

Ensure that the gasket surfaces of the water pump and the cylinder block are clean and free from damage.

If necessary, install stud (20) to the cylinder block. Ensure that the stud is installed into the correct position in the cylinder block. Tighten the stud to a torque of 10 N m (89 lb in).
If necessary, install connection (13) to water pump (3). Tighten the connection to a torque of 30 N m (265 lb in).
Position a new gasket (21) (not shown) onto the cylinder block. Ensure that the gasket is correctly orientated.
Install water pump (3) to the cylinder block.
Install bolts (17) and nut (22) to water pump (3) hand tight.
Position bracket (18) onto water pump (3). Install bolts (16) to the bracket hand tight.
Tighten bolts (16), bolts (17), and nut (22) and to a torque of 10 N m (89 lb in).
Position harness assembly (14) onto bracket (18).
Install new cable strap (15) and cable strap (19) to harness assembly (14). Note: Ensure that the cable straps meet Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) specifications.

Position adjuster bracket (8) onto alternator (10) and water pump (3).
Install bolt (7) and bolt and washer (9) to adjuster bracket (8) finger tight.
Connect hose assembly (5) to water pump (3) and the connection on the thermostat housing.
Tighten hose clamp (4) and hose clamp (6) not shown) securely.
Connect hose assembly (12) to water pump (3).
Tighten hose clamp (11) securely.
Connect hose assembly (1) from water pump (3). Tighten hose clamp (2) securely.
Install the fan and the pulley. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fan - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
Install the bracket for (ARD) air pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Pump (ARD Air) - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
Fill the cooling system with coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Fill" for the correct procedure.
