2. Remove clamps (1) that hold the fire suppression hose (2) in place (left aftercooler core only). 3. Remove two bolts (3) that hold the bracket for the fire suppression nozzle (4) in place. Move the hose and nozzle clear of the engine (left aftercooler core only). 4. Remove bolts (5) that hold elbow (6) to the aftercooler cover. Loosen the clamp on the turbocharger and turn elbow (6) away from the aftercooler cover. 5. Remove bolt (8). Loosen bolt (7). Turn bar (9) out of the way. 6. Remove bar (10). 7. Disconnect tube assembly (11) from the elbow (left aftercooler core only). 8. Disconnect tube assembly (13) (left aftercooler core only).9. Remove elbow (14).10. Remove sleeve (12) from the aftercooler housing. Remove the O-ring seals. 11. Remove bolts (16) and remove tube assembly (15). Remove the O-ring seal. 12. Disconnect water line (19) from the elbow.13. Remove elbow (18). Remove the O-ring seal. Remove sleeve (17) from the aftercooler housing. Remove the O-ring seals. 14. Install tooling (A) and fasten a hoist to the aftercooler cover. Remove bolts (20) that hold aftercooler cover (21) to the aftercooler housing.15. Remove aftercooler cover (21). The weight is 125 lb. (56 kg). 16. Fasten a hoist and remove aftercooler core (22). The weight is approximately 80 lb. (36 kg).Install Aftercooler Core
The left aftercooler core is shown.1. Make sure all parts are clean. Inspect all parts for damage and make replacements if needed. Put clean SAE 30 W oil on the O-ring seals. Make sure the end of the aftercooler core with identification "FRESH" or "JACKET" on it is installed toward the rear of the engine. 2. Fasten a hoist to aftercooler core (1). Put gasket (2) and aftercooler core (1) in position in the aftercooler housing. 3. Install tooling (A) and fasten a hoist to the aftercooler cover. Install the gasket and aftercooler cover (3). Install bolts (4). 4. Put the O-ring seals in position on sleeve (5). Install the gasket and sleeve (5) with the drain hole in the sleeve down.5. Put the O-ring seal in position on elbow (6). Install the gasket and elbow (6).6. Connect water line (7) to the elbow. 7. Put the O-ring seal in position on tube assembly (8). Install the gasket and tube assembly (8). 8. Put the O-ring seals in position on sleeve (9). Install the gasket and sleeve (9) with the drain hole in the sleeve down.9. Install the gasket and elbow (11).10. Connect tube assembly (10) (left aftercooler core only). 11. Put the gasket in position. Connect tube assembly (12) to the elbow (left aftercooler core only). 12. Install bar (13). 13. Put bar (14) in position on the aftercooler cover. Install the bolt. Tighten the bolts that hold the bar to the aftercooler covers. 14. Put elbow (15) in position against the aftercooler cover. Install the gasket and bolts (16) that hold the elbow to the aftercooler cover.15. Tighten the clamp on the turbocharger to a torque of 10.3 1.11 lb.ft. (14 15 N m). Hit the clamp lightly all around and tighten again to 10.3 1.11 lb.ft. (14 1.5 N m). 16. Install fire suppression nozzle (17) and hose (18).17.
