start by: a) remove fuel transfer pump 1. Remove gasket (1), ring (2) and O-ring seal (3) from the fuel transfer pump. 2. Turn the pump housing over and remove two bolts that hold cover (5). Remove gasket (4).
Do not cause damage to the shiny surfaces of the pump body.
3. Remove six bolts and make a separation between the cover assembly (7) and the body assembly (6). 4. Remove the plug (8) and gasket. Remove spring (9) from the cover assembly (7). 5. Remove plunger (10) from cover assembly. Remove shaft seal. 6. Remove idler gear (11) from body assembly (6). 7. Remove nut (16), gear (13) and key (12) from the shaft assembly (15). Remove shaft assembly (15) from the other side. Remove cage assembly (14). Remove and inspect the O-ring seal from the cage assembly. Make a replacement if necessary. 8. Remove two shaft seals (17) from cage assembly (14). 9. Remove the bushing (18) from the cage assembly with tooling (A). The seals must be removed first. 10. Remove idler gear shaft (19) from body assembly. 11. Remove bushing from the body assembly with tooling (A).Assemble Fuel Transfer Pump (Compact Fuel System)
1. Install shaft bushing (1) in body assembly with tooling (A).2. Install idler shaft (2) in the body assembly with a hammer and punch until the face of the shaft is just below the face of the body. 3. Install shaft bushing (3) in cage assembly with tooling (A). 4. Put oil on the shaft bottom seal (4) and use tooling (B) to install it with the lip down in the cage assembly. 5. Use tooling (B) to install the shaft top seal (5) with the lip up in the cage assembly. 6. Put a new O-ring seal (6) on the cage assembly and install the cage assembly in the body assembly. 7. Be sure the pump cavity is clean. Put oil on the shaft assembly (7) and install it in the body assembly. Install key in the shaft. 8. One side of the drive gear (9) has a groove in the gear face. Install this side of the gear on the shaft first. Install nut (8) and tighten it to a torque of 22 5 lb.ft. (29.8 6.8 N m). 9. Put oil on the idler gear (10) and inside the pump cavity. Install idler gear (10). 10. Put 9S3263 Threadlock on the outside diameter of the shaft seal and install it in the cover assembly with tooling (B). 11. Install plunger assembly (11), spring (13) and plug (12). Tighten to a torque of 40 5 lb.ft. (54.2 6.8 N m). 12. Put 8S6747 Gasket Sealer on the contact surfaces of the cover and body assemblies and install them together with six bolts.
Be careful not to get gasket sealer in the pump.
13. Install cover (14) with a new gasket. Install two bolts (15). 14. Install a new gasket (18), ring (16) and O-ring seal (17) on the cage assembly.end by:a) install fuel transfer pump
