The gasket for the flywheel housing must be free of contaminants during assembly. (3) The plug must not protrude above the surface. (4) Apply a layer of sealant between the cylinder block, the flywheel housing, and the oil pan in order to fill the space.

Tightening sequenceTighten the bolts that hold the flywheel housing to the cylinder block in the sequence that follows:
In a numerical sequence, tighten bolt 1 through bolt 20.Torque for bolts ... 40 10 N m (30 7 lb ft)
In a numerical sequence, again tighten bolt 1 through bolt 8.Torque for bolts ... 135 20 N m (100 15 lb ft)
In a numerical sequence, again tighten bolt 9 through bolt 20.Torque for bolts ... 55 10 N m (41 7 lb ft)Type 2

(1) Apply 154-9731 Thread Lock Compound to serrations of stud and both sides of gasket prior to assembly. (2) Tighten the plug to 55 14 N m (41 10 lb ft). (3) Tighten the plug to 55 14 N m (41 10 lb ft).
