Table 1
Diagnostic Codes Table
Code    Conditions which Generate this Code    System Response
268-2 Programmed Parameter Fault : Erratic, Intermittent, or Incorrect     The engine Electronic Control Module (ECM) detects that one or more of the programmable parameters have not been programmed.     The ECM may use a default torque map or the ECM may limit the engine to low idle.
The code is active only.
1495-2 Injector Trim Codes Not Programmed     The engine ECM detects that one or more of the trim codes for the injectors have not been programmed.     The ECM may use a default torque map or the ECM may limit the engine to low idle.
The code is active only.    Some system configuration parameters are configurable by the customer in order to suit the customer particular application. The configuration file contains all of the adjustable settings for the monitoring system. The engine is shipped from the factory with default values for these parameters. In most cases, the parameters do not require change. The system configuration parameters must be reprogrammed if an ECM is replaced and/or the engine rating is reprogrammed. System configuration parameters do not require change if the flash file is replaced. Proper values for these parameters are available on Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET). Certain configuration parameters are also stamped on the engine information plate. If the default settings for the parameters have been modified, there will be no record at the factory of the changes. These settings can be downloaded into a laptop computer and saved to a file. The customer can then use the file in order to ease the future replacement of the ECM.Note: Changing the parameters that are protected by factory passwords may cause your Caterpillar warranty to be voided.Check Programmable Parameters (268-2)
If a programmable parameter has not been programmed, the ECM will generate a 268-2 Check Programmable Parameters diagnostic code. The unprogrammed parameters will be set to default. Certain aspects of the engine performance and engine monitoring may be affected. Program the missing parameter.Injector Trim Codes Not Programmed (1495-2)
The engine ECM detects that one or more of the "injector trim codes" have not been programmed. The injector code is a number that is found on each of the unit injectors. The ECM uses this number to compensate for manufacturing variations between individual injectors. If you replace any of the unit injectors, reprogram the code for the new injectors. Also, if you replace the ECM, reprogram all of the injector codes.Note: The injector codes are not part of the "Configuration" screen on Cat ET. "Injector Codes Calibration" can be found under "Calibrations" in the "Service" menu on Cat ET.
Engine Serial Number
Program the engine serial number to match the engine information plate. The serial number is not programmed on a new ECM.Rated Fuel Position
This parameter is used to set engine power. A factory password is required to change this setting.
Table 2
Minimum     Default     Maximum
Minimum Rack     Engine Dependent     Engine Dependent    Low Idle
The parameter defines the lowest rpm level.
Table 3
Minimum     Default     Maximum
450 rpm     600 rpm     1000 rpm    Cooldown Speed
This parameter defines the engine speed when the engine is in cooldown mode.
Table 4
Minimum     Default     Maximum
450 rpm     600 rpm     1800 rpm    Engine Cooldown Duration
This parameter defines engine operation at the cooldown speed. Programming this parameter to 0 will disable this function.
Table 5
Minimum     Default     Maximum
0 minutes     0 minutes     60 minutes    Engine Prelube Duration
The parameter sets the amount of time for prelubrication. Programming this parameter to 0 will disable this function.
Table 6
Minimum     Default     Maximum
0 seconds     0 seconds     210 seconds    Crank Duration
The crank duration determines the amount of time that the starting motors are energized. Programming this parameter to 0 will prevent the ECM from engaging the starting motors.
Table 7
Minimum     Default     Maximum
0 seconds     0 seconds     60 seconds    Maximum No. Of Cranking Cycles
This parameter is the total number of crank cycles that can be performed.
