Information:
start by: a) remove oil pump drive 1. Remove idler gear (1) from the shaft.2. Use tooling (B) to remove bushing from idler gear.3. Remove pin from drive gear (2). 4. Use tooling (A) to remove drive gear from drive shaft. 5. Remove key (4) from drive shaft and remove drive shaft from bracket (3). 6. Use tooling (C) to remove bushing from the bracket.7. Remove the bolts (6) and locks that hold cover on screen assembly.8. Remove the cover (5), gaskets and screen.Assemble Oil Pump Drive (Earlier)
1. Clean the screen for the pump drive. 2. Put gaskets (1), screen (2) and cover in place, and install the bolts and locks.3. Use tooling (A) to install bushing in the bracket. 4. Install drive shaft (3) into bracket and install key on the shaft.5. Heat drive gear in oil to a maximum temperature of 275° F (135° C) and install on drive shaft. Make sure the holes in gear are in alignment with hole in drive shaft.6. Install pin with a taper into gear. Make the pin flat on end that is driven through. 7. Use tooling (B) to install bushing into idler gear. 8. Install idler gear (4) on to shaft.end by: a) install oil pump driveDisassemble Oil Pump Drive (Later)
start by: a) remove oil pump drive 1. Remove idler gear (1) from bracket assembly (2). 2. Remove the bearing from the idler gear (1) with tooling (A) as shown. 3. Remove the small (peened) end of the pin (3) with a file. 4. Remove the pin from collar (4) and shaft assembly (5) with hammer and punch. 5. Remove the collar from the shaft assembly and remove the shaft assembly from the bracket assembly. 6. Remove the bearing from the bracket assembly with tooling (A) as shown. 7. Remove shaft (6) from bracket with a press. 8. Remove eight bolts (7) and locks which hold cover (8) on the bracket. Remove the cover, screen and gaskets from the bracket.Assemble Oil Pump Drive (Later)
1. Install gaskets (1), screen (2) and the cover on the bracket with eight bolts and locks. Be sure "V" mark on bracket (3) is in alignment with "V" mark on shaft (4).2. Push the shaft into the bracket with a press until the end of the shaft is extended 1.625 .010 in. (41.28 0.25 mm) beyond the bracket. Be sure "V" mark on bearing (5) is in alignment with "V" mark on the bracket.3. Install the bearing on the bracket with tooling (A). 4. Install the shaft assembly in the bracket assembly. Install collar on the shaft. If the original shaft assembly is to be installed do not do Step 5. Go to Step 6. 5. Use the following procedure to install a new shaft assembly: a) Hold the shaft assembly against the bracket assembly.b) Install a .005 to .008 in. (0.13 to 0.20 mm) feeler gauge between the collar and the bracket assembly.c) Make a mark on the shaft through the hole in the collar.d) Drill a .182 in. (4.62 mm) diameter hole through the shaft where the mark is.e) Use a reamer in the drilled hole in the shaft for a Number 3 x 1 3/4 tapered pin. 6. Install the tapered pin in the collar and shaft assembly. Make the small end of the pin flat (peen) against the collar. 7. Install the bearing in idler gear (6) with tooling (A) and install the idler gear on the bracket assembly.end by:a) install oil pump drive
